Dashcam Video of Chicago Law Enforcement Shooting Teen

newtboy says...

Clearly, from the article, not a single one, anywhere in the department, from top to bottom, "outed" this murderer, and instead they covered it up, destroyed evidence, fabricated a story and repeated the line 'he was unfortunately killed by a single gunshot to the chest' all the way up. Not one 'good cop' to be found. As I see it, anyone in the department who's hands touched this are co-conspirators after the fact, and need to be charged themselves to the fullest extent of the law. It's only because of complicity of others that cops think, correctly, that they can get away with murdering citizens and claiming self defense. That makes them as much of the problem as the murderers.
Prosecute them all...right up to and including the chief...since they all knew the self defense, single shot story was BS (they had this video) but they continued to shield him by repeating it publicly and in official legal documents.

EDIT: It should be noted that without a complaining witness coming forward, (one that was forcibly removed from the scene and NEVER interviewed, just like every other civilian witness) and without the lucky happenstance that they didn't erase the dash cam footage like they did to other footage, for example the security camera footage from nearby restaurants, there would NEVER be charges for this 'officer', since his entire force covered up the crime.

Wonder how many "good cops" on the scene outed this murderer.

World's Dumbest Cop

Mordhaus says...

Here is the thing, and it's the reason why I have started to switch my opinion of our law enforcement. The number of stories and videos that show good cops has become dramatically outnumbered by the ones showing despicable human beings wearing a uniform.

Now what am I supposed to think as a rational person when I post a video showing a good cop, not wanting to shoot a murder suspect that might be armed, and immediately after that I get inundated with multiple videos showing officers literally murdering, beating, soliciting, and running over people?

It's equivalent to me coming to your house every day and beating the shit out of you for months, but one time I buy you an ice cream cone instead and tell you to have a great day. Now can you tell me that you are the type of person that is going to say, "Wow, he got me an ice cream and didn't hurt me today!" or are you a thinking creature that is going to say, "Fuck you and your ice cream, you sociopath!"?

It's just not good enough anymore to be that one good cop or even multiple good cops unless you are willing to take a stand and out the bad ones to be criminals. The thin blue line can no longer be held if we are to gain a modicum of trust back towards our law enforcement. No more buddy system, you fuck up and you do time. Until then, I can't trust a cop anymore and I have actual family that does police work.

You are a woman in handcuffs? Let me punch and kick you!

one good cop to 9 bad ones?

that's not only backwards it's way off but I can understand how things look, since only the bad behavior is ever featured.

You won't turn on your tv and see the bleached blonde bimbo say 'Officers today helped such and such and so and so and took this many reports, and helped deliver so many babies and held so many arteries from bleeding out and found so many bikes lost by kids or prevented so many crimes from occurring'.

No, you won't hear that.

Did see this though:

The police officers could be heard yelling stop resisting ;)

Asmo says...

It's not being anti-cop, it's being anti-bad-cop...

You probably won't remember the recent video of a great cop that booked a guy tailgating a cyclist. You know, because it doesn't feed in to the narrative that exists between your ears.

Oh yeah, and why should we go tit for tat posting up criminals doing criminal things? They are criminals... We kinda fucking expect them to be the "bad" guys, it's hardly a surprise when they are... It's when the people put in a position of power and trust, public service, abuse that position that it's noteworthy. Sadly, that happens so often now that the most noteworthy points are when an officer performs with distinction, honour and humility, exactly the way he or she should...

Or how about this, where one good cop get's crushed because the dept. prefers to support two bad ones? The risk of being an honourable person in the police force isn't just from criminals, it's from coworkers as well.

So climb off your fucking self righteous steed (it must be uncomfortable riding it with your head up your ass). If you served as a police officer as you claim, your postings here give a pretty good indication of the type you were. And if you were a "good cop" in the truest sense of the words, doesn't your stomach turn to see how the entire profession is being dragged down by the criminals in your own ranks?

Surprised to read that 'the cops are supposed to be the good guys', which is quite contrary to the usual rant, which seems to be 'the cops are the agents of the antichrist'.

Being anti-cop is a lot like being racist, don't you think? If you spend time with people you don't know, you can begin to relate to them. Perhaps you should spend more time with the cops in your town. Maybe there is a ride-along program. You might be surprised what you learn from the experience.

...

You might also show at least one video of cops being run over by cars, or shot to death for every video like this.

PLEASE DO NOT MISUSE THE DUPEOF INVOCATION (Sift Talk Post)

volumptuous says...

I don't care at all about being singled out here, and I was the first to say "holy shit i totally fucked up!".

But Its been an all-day process now, getting hammered from every corner. What is this, FIVE sifttalks now? Add to that, a revocation of a privilege according to a brand new policy. All that for what one good cop called an "honest mistake".

Oh well, Taco Bell...

^Thanks Eric.
Because Lucky is playing bad cop, I get to play good cop and say that Volumptuous should get a big hug. It's never fun to be singled out in a negative in front of a community. I was called an Asshat on MeFi once.
