Jimmy Fallon Impersonates 12 Different Comedians

spoco2 says...

Wow... I concur with others, usually, no fan at all of Fallon... this though, very nice, very nice indeed.

And also concur in regards to Sharon, ridiculous fricken plastic surgery, looks horrendous.

Jimmy Kimmel Crew Fights Abortion Protesters

Angua1 says...

I'm no fan of religious freaks, but it looked like the fat guy was just trying to adjust the lights after it became apparent that the crew wasn't going to do anything. Those lights are burning HOT and it looked like the people protesting had little room to avoid the heat and discomfort. Both the fat guy and the lady taking the video said the lights were hot and shining on some kids. While I disapprove of bringing kids along to these protests, protesting is legal and even if kids weren't involved it's not really fair to burn any people with these lights when they have limited space to avoid the beams.

Cop Shoots Dog In The Head While Restrained On A Leash

ToKeyMonsTeR says...

It doesn't come off as nitpickish and I thank you for your rational response. But if you click on the video and go to the first youtube video part 1 of 2, I don't see how the dog was being life threatening, which would be the requirement to use lethal force I imagine, and I didn't read in my above link how the dog was a threat other than growling at passerby's.

With my limited knowledge of policing and law I come to the conclusion that animal control should be called if there was a an uncontrollable animal/threatening to the community and I don't see any justification under any circumstances this video or any previous event would show that this animal needed to be shot while being restrained on a pole and while it was posing no immediate threat.

I had a different title when I first posted this video and it seemed to me more biased so i changed it, but if you conclude that that is still the case feel free to tell me to change it. I actually ended up just copy/pasting the title from reddit as mine seemed too emotional at first so I ended up changing it.

I say a lot of bad things about police. I am a police hater even when many people say the opposite, but this... I don't know how this can be justified in anyone's eyes.

You're not thinking hard enough then. Going straight into knee-jerk reactionary mode, especially without having any modicum of background information on this incident makes this post seem like a rather opaque, overeager attempt to demonize the police based on some preexisting desire to support a conclusion you've already arrived at (in this case); your history on this matter doesn't help though either.
Trust me, I'm no fan of crooked cops (or anyone who abuses power or oppresses the powerless). What they did could be actually wrong, but you've provided no support for it. The video description is factual at best and disingenuous at worst. The rational, responsible thing to do would be to not make any judgment calls at all in situations where it's not particularly evident until more information surfaces. At least that's how I go about these things.
I hope this doesn't come off as overly nitpickish.

Pat Condell - No mosque at Ground Zero

ponceleon says...

A very interesting sift. Kind of hate-filled, but then again being no fan of religion myself, I would extend the same annoyance to building ANYTHING religious near ground zero...

His point about the perception of the mosque in Islamic countries is pretty interesting though. While it may be seen (by a minority) as a show of tolerance, there is no doubt in my mind that it will send a very different message to radical Muslims. They certainly won't differentiate between the intent from a perspective of claiming a second victory over the US. I wonder if there is already any commentary by the wackos on it?

Pay to Wank - Porn-Star PSA

Trancecoach says...

Pornies vs. Pirates:
Anti-piracy PSA from “all star” pornies, including “hedgehog,” sluts I've never heard of & a Sarah Palin porn-a-like (I’m no fan of Palin, but this woman looks like Sarah Palin maybe after she’s been hit in the face with a shovel).

Somehow, I doubt this'll have about as much an effect as the anti-marijuana messages, which is to say next to none.

How many horny guys dialing up LubeTube will have second thoughts about stealing their product after seeing this??

That's right.. Zilch

NY Times Profile: ‘Why I Joined the Tea Party’

Ratty11 says...

Why are all the tea partiers on some form of social assistance?

Yeah, I hear that a lot. But you see, they were forced to pay into social security and medicare they have a right to get their money back. It's their money. I'm sure they'd prefer to have saved and invested the money themselves instead.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of the teabaggers - racist morons. I just don't care for intellectual dishonesty either.

Pres. Obama: "We had a little bit of a buzz saw this week"

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:< br />I don't get why people say Obama is a great speaker. He isn't. A great speaker is someone who makes a speech that everybody can appreciate and who can make the audience feel like he understands or at least empathizes with them. Obama doesn't do that. Obama's speeches are halting, staccato, and bland. Every time he tries to sound 'fired up' he comes across as cringe-worthily unconvincing. The speeches are filled with catch phrases, nothing-isms, and vapidity. He isn't a 'great orator' at all. He is - in fact - flat, uninspiring, and weak. I was no fan of Bill Clinton, but Clinton was 10X the 'orator' that Obama is. If I was to make a rhetorical comparison, I would say that Obama is more like George Bush (I) than anyone else. Can we please stop with the 'great speech' and 'what a speaker' crap? I've heard great speakers, and Obummer is no great speaker.

Who do you consider a great speaker?

The Sham-wow boy?

I think there's an endlessly rich intellectual world lying beneath the surface of politics, but all we ever see of it is the borderline anti-intellectualism of folks like Arianna Huffington arguing that it's actually good for liberals that Van Jones got pushed out of the White House, because he's too awesome to be constrained by such a job.

I really wish someone in a more mainstream media outlet would tap into the intellectual side of governance and political theory. It can be found all over the web (and I like to think in this particular corner of the web), but it's utterly lacking on TV. I suppose Bill Moyer's Journal occasionally dips into that realm, but I'm not sure if there's anyone but me watching that show.
I'm no fan of Huffington either. Huffpo is a decent news site, but Arianna herself seems devoted to making liberals look hysterical.
Oh, and as to your comment about progressives needing to embrace incrementalism, I agree to a certain point. I think it's important that we have people trying to shift the Overton window to the left, but I'd rather they sound more like Anthony Weiner and Alan Grayson than Michael Moore (though Moore is a good guy to have on our side too).
What I don't think we need is this whole segment of the progressive movement that's decided that the only way to move the Overton window to the left is to constantly badmouth Democrats, largely using the exact same attacks the right uses. I don't get that, but I see it happening all over the blogosphere. Lotsa people who claim to be on the left who can't do anything but talk about Obama being a secret Muslim Republican, and Rahm Emmanuel selling us out, etc.
I don't get it, do they think that driving Obama's unfavorables up is going to move the cause forward?

I could get behind liberalism if there was a movement within it to hold accountable those fellow liberals who sabotage the cause.

Liberals have plenty of sites like 'Crooks and Liars" or Mediawatch to keep an eye on the excesses of conservatives... why can't they do the same to keep an eye on the excesses of fellow liberals?

Next time Michael Moore says he's going to sabotage the healthcare debate by framing it as the US vs. Communism, organize liberals to boycott his short-sightedness. That's a kind of attitude of accountability and honor that I think has broader appeal to moderates.
