750th Episode Opening Credits | Couch Gag | The Simpsons

I haven't gone through looking, but it would be great if they left out Grimey, just to annoy his fictional corpse.

edit: aaaw, here's there beside Mindy 25 seconds in. Could they have left out Gill so he doesn't get appearance fees?

RIP-Robin Williams :(

artician says...

You make a fair point. I don't like the concept of celebrity at all, and despite him being an artist that has given me much inspiration, and was an entertainment fixture in my family's home since Mork and Mindy, it doesn't seem fair.
Likewise it's not fair to celebrate the deaths of thousands of 'combat vets' while ignoring the hundreds of thousands of civilians that have been murdered by their hands or the hands of those they profess to 'protect'.
It's all a matter of perspective.

Yeah, it is pretty sad... that some mourn for people who have more oppotunities than most, money, fame, talent and a legacy known around the world, but that isn't enough, or they can't handle it and decide that suicide is the way to go. Why don't you sift about the 20 or so military combat vets (not just US vets either) that commit suicide every day, men and women who decided that their day at work could mean dying for you, me, and a belief - you know, if you really are sick of sifting this kind of idolizing bullshit.

Say what you want about him, but the moment he joined Mork and Mindy was the day that show jumped the shark.

Not that I'm blaming him. It was probably a combination of the writers and Williams' drug problems, but still.

Good Will Hunting - Idiosyncrasies

poolcleaner says...

^ Almost every American sketch comedy show from the late-70s and early-80s, Popeye, Mork & Mindy, Good Morning Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, Toys, Hook, Aladdin (say what you will about the movie, but his genie is THE genie), Mrs. Doubtfire, The Birdcage (remake), Good Will Hunting, Patch Adams, What Dreams May Come (I liked it at least), One hour Photo, Insomnia (remake), and then there's all of his random, unforgetable guest appearance and talk show circuit adlibbing...

Or do you just mean in recent years?

animaniacs... why?

Mork calling Orson

Buck says...

>> ^BoneRemake:

in those shows, the same as Full house of family matters of whatnot, they have to recap what the episode was about, and I do not like that. They are all the same.

Mork and Mindy (and FullHouse) were made for kids (and family's) to watch. They provided some moral lessons and while not appealing to many adults were loved by the kids. (At least some kids)

World's Greatest Dad - HD Trailer (Starring Robin Williams)

poolcleaner says...

Also, come on, guys, was I the only one who liked Mrs. Doubtfire? Hmm, maybe I should take that back -- but I don't care. I liked it! And I liked Hook! And I liked it when he did the voice of the genie in Aladdin. Did you ever have a friend like moi?

He also did this martian thing from, like, the planet Mindy. I think he aged backwards of something. Oh, and Popeye. He said "shit" in that movie. Do you fucking understand the controversy?!

Robin Williams - Causing Uncontrolled Laughter Since 1979

volumptuous says...

"You're going to play an alien on Happy Days"

That was in reference to his character "Mork". You know, the one from Orson. Which spun-off from Happy Days, and became "The Mork & Mindy Show".

Awesome!

This is directed toward the author, whoever that is.

I believe in a sovereign God who sometimes gives us what we deserve.
<buzz> Wrong.

I believe Muslims are our enemies.
<buzz> Wrong.

I believe in life. A baby is not just a fetus, but a living being no matter where it resides.
<buzz> Wrong. You're not a living being until you're in my address book.

I believe there is a good reason for the death penalty.
<ding> Correct.

I believe in fiscal responsibility, for the government and for us.
<ding> Correct.

I believe the government is way too big and rife with greed and corruption.
<ding> Correct.

I believe in the truth. People believe lies because it's much easier than finding the truth.
<ding> Correct. See your point number one.

I believe in personal responsibility. That includes spanking your children.
<ding> Correct.

I believe American women should raise their own children and American men should be men enough to pay for children they've produced.
<ding> Correct.

I believe a man and woman make marriage. Period.
<buzz> Wrong. Gays are people too.

I believe in America first and foremost and we ought to take care of our own people, our own land, and illegal aliens should go home.
<buzz> Wrong. Too provincial.

I believe in guns and knowing how to use them properly.
<ding> Correct. Except they shouldn't be so easy to get.

I believe war is a fact of life and we should always win.
<buzz> Wrong. War is not a "fact of life." Blair, Mindy, and Tootie are facts of life.

I believe in lower taxes. I know how to spend money better than Congress any day of the week.
<ding> Correct. The first part anyway. What's your credit card balance? Then we'll talk.

I believe in voter ID.
<ding> Correct.

I believe there is a moderate and a socialist in this election.
<buzz> Wrong. On both items.

I agree with a two-party system,
<buzz> Wrong. The two-party system is killing our political process. The founding fathers knew this.

...but Obama isn't a messiah
<ding> Correct.

...or a democrat.
<buzz> Wrong.

He's a Muslim socialist.
<buzz> Wrong. Take a listen to McCain's 2000 town hall meetings and you'll discover the truth that you value: that McCain also wished to spread the wealth.

That was in the 10% that I do like about him. That special encompasses the full range of what I do like about him and what I don't. People hate me for not being totally stoked over Robin Williams. People have a weird affinity towards him. I think it has to do with "Mork & Mindy" turning him into the "people's pet".

I don't like Robin Williams about 90% of the time, but his opening couple of jokes were pretty funny.

Have you seen him talk about golf? This guy is brilliant, too bad he's in so many mediocre movies..
