bareboards2Now I can upvote... I thought that was what had happened, but I was confused by the "disrespect" part of it. I am very American -- we think win win win -- and would be angry at a missed opportunity more than "disrespecting" the other team.

Doing fancy tricks like his pirouette in a close game (1-0 at that point) is disrespectful to the other team and highly unprofessional. The fact that he also fucked it up just adds to it. Look at Edin Dzeko's reaction, he can't believe Balotelli just screwed up like that.
So the coach, Roberto Mancini, substitutes him for James Milner the second he was warmed up, because that kind of behaviour is unacceptable in professional football. Balotelli's reaction towards the coach is the icing on the cake, it will cost him. Dearly.
