Michael Winslow - Beatboxing Whole Lotta Love

SpeveO says...

He's not simulating the distortion, he's using a distortion pedal. You see it more clearly in his live show, but even in this video you can see him turn it on. Still pretty amazing though.

Forget the beatboxing, the overdrive guitar is amazing. I've never heard anyone vocally simulate that sound before. In. Cred. I. Ble.

Genesis with Peter Gabriel 1973, Supper´s Ready (complete)

harpom says...

Genesis was one of those bands that made an impression on music as a whole.
Peter Gabriel had/has such a unique voice, and a great stage presence. Rutherford and Banks were amazing as well. The fact that they could reproduce their music so well live, shows their talent. Maybe I'm wrong, but i always viewed Phil Collins as a Yoko Ono element.
I first bought this album in 1973 and have worn out a few copies. I still get goosebumps when i listen to early Genesis.

What Ke$ha sounds like without her precious autotune

Ferazel says...

I agree with others and say that while it wasn't the best, for a live mic feed of probably a live show it wasn't that bad. I think people don't realize that when they listen to a live performances that have these intricate dance numbers they are barely hearing the artist from the live feed at all... maybe 10% of the final mix. The reason is for hiding the mic spurts (as your heard in this video) and because it's damn hard to sing and do dance moves that can greatly impact a person's singing ability. You try to sing well and consistently doing jumping jacks... cause that's basically what they're doing.

For more intimate moments or songs you will hear more of the artist, but there is still obviously a back-up mix going on. Face it, when you go to a live show you're basically watching a glorified music video.

Skynet is activated tv studio cameras have begun the attack!

Stingray says...

Yeah, this is/was a live sports show in New England. They can't really just leave their seats on a live show. The show always was a bit of comedy with sports, so this camera attack fit right into their show.>> ^NicoleBee:

"It's gonna hit us."
So getting their fat asses up and out of their chairs never occurred to them? Are they both handicapped? Why did they just sit there and let the damn thing run into them? They could've rolled the freakin chairs out of the way too. In this instance I feel we deserve to be wiped out by machines.

Thanks for that little ray of sunshine, Westy jr!
Answer: It was funnier this way. Moustachio is such a ham. I laughed heartily.

Raidiohead Fan Speaks Out

...somebody had to say it. I'd say every album since OK Computer had a couple of good tracks. The idea of the band couple with those few quality jams have kept them afloat. I'm sure they put on a helluva live show, too.

80's electro pop had a resurgence, and since maybe 2004 can be regularly heard in the mix at clubs and 'cool' bars.
They keep on playing the entire Talking Heads 'Stop Making Sense' soundtrack at a bar I go to a lot... not that I'm complaining, but, I mean, there's new music thats drum-heavy, synth/electro-heavy, psychedelic-influenced stuff out there... was listening to the last Bear in Heaven and Deerhunter albums today at work, for instance. Same story with 80's electro pop.
... wow, wondering comment...

I wish Bear in Heaven's albums sounded a bit more like their live shows - they kick it up substantially in concert!

This is Piers' first week on CNN. He replaced Larry King... and, to be sure, if he continues to praddle on about religion like he did in this episode, it'll be a short lived show for sure.

That was great.

Agreed even though I don't like him.
I didn't know Piers had a talk show on CNN.

Joss Stone thinks music sharing is great

Stu says...

The problem artists and bands have with piracy is it does affect live shows. The labels provide money to the artist to get a tour off the ground. For many young bands, without that starter money they wouldn't even be able to get started, therefore stunting their growth and ability to do a tour to make money. Lars of metallica said exactly this would happen. That being said, the issue isn't privacy bringing down the music industry. It's the shit the labels are trying to peddle off as music that's bringing it down. People don't want to go buy a shit cd. Most have two maybe 3 good songs if that. So people download the one or get the album and only listen to the one. If the quality went back up so would sales despite piracy. If I like a band I buy their cd even if I can download it because they are good and I know it supports them. Fans are going to keep paying for shit.
