Stay In School, Kids...

newtboy says...

Bullshit you liar.
Trump blocked relevant witnesses, not the house. He had no credible witnesses on his behalf because none exist. The witnesses he wasn't allowed were the Bidens, because even if every baseless accusation he made against them was true (spoiler, not one is) it's 100% irrelevant. What HE did is the issue.

Bob, you and Trump's position on anyone not kowtowing sufficiently and loudly exclaiming how amazing his (non existent) clothes are is "fuck them". Always has been. Hardly possible to represent America when you say 2/3 are America haters that should be hanged for treason.

The democrats wanted more evidence from day one, and the Whitehouse used every possible excuse to deny them ANY. I can't wait for 2021 when republican control is lost, barring more massive Republican voter fraud (which has been perpetrated by a republican in every intentional case found this century- including all actual examples Trump's investigation found from 2016; Terri Lynn Rote, Phillip Cook, Audrey Cook, Gladys Coego, and worst ever-Leslie McCrae Dowless who collected hundreds of absentee ballots and filled them out for Republican candidates, forging the signatures of hundreds of voters in her position as paid political operative for the Trump supported Republican candidate Mark Harris). When the house, Senate, and executive are all democratic and republicans are silenced with their sycophantic and cowardly abdication of duty, civility, and sanity to someone who doesn't comprehend one of those concepts a whit, I'm sure you'll finally understand how bad that is.

The Senate didn't listen to shit. Republicans, save one, were prepared to acquit without any evidence or testimony. Liar.

The theatrics are from Republicans....all non cult members see that clearly, that's why 2/3 of Americans supported his removal, and the other 1/3 wouldn't convict him of murder if he shot Romney in cold blood during the state of the union. The president being an unimpeachable king is what the constitution was designed to prevent, and the precedent the Republicans set here will end our country if it's the new norm. Start learning Mandarin....oh sorry, forgot that the "L" word is a swear word to your ilk.

It's the entire US that lost, something you'll understand when the next president breaks the law and Republicans are ignored when they complain. The state of the union is "crumbling into dust". The divider in chief has seen to that. "Winning!". *facepalm

BTW, you're also wrong about the dumbasses (again, one word not two). Trumpsters are the uneducated by and large, and a vast majority of them (59%bad/33%good) believe higher education is a bad thing.
https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/essay/the-growing-partisan-divide-in-views-of-higher-education/ It's likely that statistic is due to the fact that most of today's Republicans couldn't get into college because most of you are too dumb to meet the requirements, and those who aren't, like my family, have left the party in disgust.

Republicans are the moronic anti American anti education anti fact anti science anti fiscal responsibility anti choice bigots too stupid and gleefully ignorant to know they're stupid ignorant morons. There's absolutely no question or doubt among those who aren't willfully ignorant, who believe in fact, or who believe in education.
Sad.

The house screwed Trump during their investigation and did not allow any credible witness on his behalf. Now in the Senate Democrats beg for fairness. Fuck them.

The House in gathered enough evidence to bring forth article of impeachment. Democrats now want more evidence.? The Senate listen to their evidence and found it lacking.

Just a theatrical show by Democrats because they have nothing . And they LOST ..............AGAIN

war crimes-US attack on MSF hospital in afghanistan

newtboy says...

We're really going to have a hard time explaining this one away. We knew full well this was a hospital, and inexplicably we bombed it anyway. Even if the claim that someone was shooting from the hospital were true (and it seems it's not) there's absolutely no excuse for bombing it. None.
30 minutes of bombing?!? While being begged to stop bombing a hospital?!? In self defense (I note there's been absolutely zero evidence that there was a single insurgent there, no bodies, no guns)?!? And it went through the 'vetting' process and they still said, 'yep, go ahead and bomb a hospital into dust'?!?
Sweet Zombie Jesus! I actually DO hope everyone involved, from the guy on the ground (if they actually exist) to the general that gave the go ahead, is indicted for war crimes and convicted. If that doesn't happen, we can definitely expect this to happen again, and we can expect repercussions....we won't be so lax and relaxed about things if a major hospital in America blows up, will we?

EDIT: Also consider, this hospital was in what's now Taliban held territory, so we WON'T be rebuilding this, the only hospital in the area.

What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains

poolcleaner says...

You could also blame books and homing pigeons -- Encyclopedia sets? Libraries? I spent many hours of my time as a child reading in these original information databases. I feel like the internet just brought a bunch of base fucks into a spectrum of reality that has always existed. Fucks that normally wouldn't spend their time consuming information in a database. Fucks that would market the shit out of every aspect of it. The perception of this video is a direct result of our internet being ground into dust.

At its mid-range potential, the internet is not much different than a library. I recall a lot of book-learned facts which are plain WRONG, including false and biased information, and unlabeled, incorrectly scaled maps being fairly constant. Yay Christopher Columbus! Yay happy natives! Yay dropping nuclear bombs on people! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy

The internet brings ourselves closer and closer to instant, multi-perspective, peer-reviewed information, because we no longer need to thumb through catalogs, shelves, and pages, and everyone can contribute in a trusted, merit-based environment. Identify the fuckers of the internet. They pollute us with their bullshit. (I posit that I am not a fucker, I am merely disgruntled.)

One of my best friends is a librarian and the major difference he sees between Wikipedia and published books is that published books require new editions to replace outdated and incorrect information, potentially screwing over human memory for as long as that book isn't burned. (Sorry, rofl, I thought it was a funny way to phrase that. Plz don't burn books.)

The key is to avoid nonstop popular culture and focus on the vast educational potential of the internet.

And don't use social media.

And keep your mobile device's sound and vibration OFF. I love technology but don't let it reverse your human potential, let it augment. Focus on augmentation and factual checks & balances of the information you take in.

No to the conclusions from this video. No. No. NO! The net doesn't make us more superficial, we do and we always have.

btw, suggesting that AHA is militating to "bomb Islamic societies into dust" is dishonest and, frankly, fucking stupid. You remind me of the media you hate so much, needing to fit everything into your simplistic, dualist narrative.

She's for crushing Islam, I can't support her view. She makes good points about how women in islamic societies are treated horribly, but that means that we should help Islamic societies to join the 21st century not bomb them into dust or install leaders to make them more radical.

Not in this video no but she has and does. BTW I really hope I meet you one day.

I'm just surprised this happened in America..the richest country on earth. How do we let this happen?

"Top ten richest countries in the world is based on the GDP per capita of each country."

Yeah I was wrong...we're not the most rich or powerful country by far we don't control a vast majority of the worlds wealth we don't spend as much as the entire world combined on the military. How could I forget the awesome power that is Luxembourg...surely they'll crush us into dust.

You're being intentionally dense to be argumentative...that doesn't really help thanks.

but watching those cunts "collapse into dust" with the rest of us would be amusing. I don't have any savings so I would be particularly entertained by that spectacle. Then we can all go mano a mano in the streets, as nature intended.

Yeah, I think that was kinda "glossed" over (lol).

The Difference Between Democrats and Republicans - TED

NetRunner says...

A lot of the conversations have drifted into the non-social aspects of political philosophy. My take on what was discussed in the video is that he's not attempting to address economic differences of opinion, nor authoritarian/libertarian, purely a difference in moral focus between social conservatives, and social liberals.

I wish he had talked about libertarians as a sub-group specifically -- I suspect they test like liberals. The questionnaire is available online at http://www.yourmorals.org/, I'd love for blankfist or imstellar or some other libertarian to take the test and post their results. I took it, and definitely presented the expected liberal skew, with mine being slightly more skewed than the average liberal.

I say that because libertarians are socially liberal, and that is driven by a moral philosophy that accentuates caring and fairness over blind loyalty, respect for authority (something I've never seen in a libertarian), and purity (just look at blankfist).

I think economic theory is easier to explain when you dig down into the definition of "fairness" -- not everyone has the same concept of fair. To economic liberals like me, fairness is equality. If a group of people are splitting a pizza, fairness means we all get roughly the same amount of pizza. People who take extra, and force others to go without are morally wrong, even if they paid for the whole pizza.

To conservatives, fairness has more to do with opportunity. Taking the same pizza metaphor, they think people should be free to take as much pizza as they like, and if people come late and get none, well that's fair. They came late; had they come earlier, they'd have gotten some. They get angry at people like me who say "that's not fair, you shouldn't have taken the last piece", because we're unfairly placing limits on people's freedom to be a-holes.

I don't think that divide is caused by one side or the other being open or close minded, or whether they're authoritarian or loyalist, just a basic difference on what the important lessons are from the above experiences.

It's why I think economic conservatives might change their tune if they're the ones who don't get any pizza, or if all of a sudden their leveraged financial derivatives turn into dust before their eyes.
