"It's Halftime in America" - Super Bowl 2012 Ad
It's been funny to me that this has been something all the cable news bobbleheads had to weigh in on.
No, it's not explicitly political. It only seems that way because we've entered into some sort of crazy era where talk of pulling together and working to help each other out of a bad place has been turned into something controversial.
But yes, viewed through the media's lens of "How does what happened today impact the 2012 horserace?" this was good for Obama, because Obama's on the side that's rooting for America to get better, while the other side is saying that he is the sole cause of all of America's pain, and so it won't get better as long as he's in the White House.
Oh yes, and then there's also the bit where Obama was willing to bet on American industry to create jobs, when Wall Street and their lap dogs (the Republicans) wanted them to just die out -- they were Union shops, after all! More salt in the wounds for them, I guess, since if they'd gotten their way this company wouldn't exist anymore.
I guess the best part about this ad is that maybe it'll help people cut through the fog of all that, and realize that there is hope, and resilience in America. That times are hard, but they won't stay that way forever -- they never do.
And maybe, just maybe, they'll remember who was rooting for America to fail, and who had faith in it, even when it seemed we'd lost our way.
Hint: It ain't the people who are hopping mad about this ad.
Obama Calls Out SCOTUS in State of the Union Speech
>> ^marinara:
let me fucking guess, Is the MSM is going to dissect body language for days while Obama's vacuous speech gets a pass?
Actually, our vacuous media will spend lots of time hyperventilating over whether Obama crossed the line with what he said in this clip.
There will also be (surprise, surprise) a huge focus on the effect of the speech on the eternal political horserace. In other words, "how did it play with his liberal base/independents/Republicans who long for bipartisanship", or as Fox News would put it "let me fucking guess, the MSM is going to give Obama's vacuous and vapid speech a pass?"
Obama's relationship with the Weather Underground
Since McCain is recycling Clinton attacks, we'll just recycle the response from April.
Also, this is just another way to dodge election law, since the guy running this "independent" group is a paid consultant to John McCain's campaign.
Hillary +9.2 in PA Primary. (Election Talk Post)
The real margin might be 9.2%, but the media likes their horserace, so they're pretty unanimously rounding it up to 10%.
Either way, nothing's changed.
If anything, this puts Obama another step closer to the nomination, since we just took a huge number of delegates off the table (150+), Hillary only made a net gain of 11. So, just another 14 more Pennsylvania-sized states that she can win by 9.2% or so, and she might have a tie.
Nevermind the fact that there isn't even 1 more Pennsylvania-sized state still out there, she'll probably start campaigning in Iraq, and insist their vote must be counted.
There isn't anything that happened in PA that's gonna make superdels move in a wave for either Obama or Clinton. They're gonna let this fratricide continue for a couple weeks more, at least.
Grats Hill, McCain's gonna get the Clinton bump.
Is the American Media Retarded or Evil? (Blog Entry by Fedquip)
That kind of horserace coverage is not exciting, except to stupid people, who happen to be in the majority. It's amazing how much time they waste without talking about policy and an apples-to-apples comparison of candidates on those policy issues.

You are right, it was. Thanks for noticing! Fixed now!

Obama vs Clinton foreign policy advisers
Extremely informative! Lives up to the moniker of "Real News." This really highlights the horrible job that the traditional media (television/radio and newspapers) does in speaking about relevant information. An analysis of the candidates foreign policy advisors doesn't play into the horserace narrative that the media prefers.
Could have done without the swipe at McCain at the end. I am no fan of the man, but that wasn't really necessary. Stick to the solid analysis and let the partisan hacks take shots at each other.
That's one BIG TV (744 Square Meter Screen)
Horseracing?! What a waste. Hook up a PS3 already!
