president trump announces a new and better national anthem

You're wrong.
@bobknight33 is not a Russian Troll.

Unless that troll has severe mood swings or something.

It seems more like multiple trolls are using the account. I remember a time when he could spell most words in English correctly, for instance. His arguments were much angrier then too. Now he's more laid back about it. He doesn't seem like he's angry, just that he's got a job to do, but at the same time the spelling and some of the grammar went down hill.

11 years of trying fact, reason, logic, religion, history......all to no avail, and seeing his positions consistently change based on who we are discussing (e.g.. the debt under Obama was 100% Obama's fault, was a disgrace we shouldn't tolerate and should run him out of office for, but under Trump doubling or tripling the deficit, raising spending and cutting taxes, doesn't matter a whit and is somehow Obama's fault).
I'm prepared to take the <1% chance that I'm wrong and say "yes", he is a Russian agent....I'm just not 100% certain he knows it. I am 100% certain he wouldn't admit it if he did.

Actually, it looks like there are people on the dam itself. If you look center/right on the hill, it appears there are multiple figures starting to run when it breaks.

I'd guess contenders for best sax solo in a pop/rock song Though I wouldn't put the Benny Hill theme in the same list, but would put on Tim Cappello - I Still Believe... Jungleland and lots of others by Bruce Springsteen... Pink Floyd's Us and Them...

Careless Whisper's sax solo, if Wikipedia is to be believed, was Steve Gregory, who's sax didn't have the key range, so they messed with the recording a bit, and when George came in, he liked it... Actually seems like that was the part of the song they had the hardest part with as George didn't like most takes from most people.

Did you mean: conteneurs containers contenders

It's not KennyG it's about the most famous sax solo*. George Michael : Careless whispers. . And yes Sax is a woodwind instrument due to the wooden reed rather than brass mouth piece.

Other conteneers would be , Gerry Rafferty - baker street, Lily was here - Candy Dulfer / Dave Stewart, EPIC SAX GUY SOLO - Moldova -Eurovision Song Contest, or Yacketty sax benny hill!

How these penny-pinchers retired in their 30s

newtboy says...

Arcata, being our college town, is the most expensive town here. I would consider other nearby towns if being cheap is important. Try Blue Lake, where I am (I'm outside town), it's more rural but under 10 miles from Arcata.
We moved here 25 years ago....back then, a 1000 square ft house with an acre cost us $800a month. I've owned my home since then, so I'm out of the rent loop, but poking on craigslist looks like around $1500-$2000 for a decent house, with some more, some less depending on what you get. Nice 2-3 bedroom homes seem to be about $500000 now with some property.

Our gas is the most expensive in the country consistently, over $4.

Beyond that, it's pretty cheap. Property tax is 1%, food is reasonable, entertainment is mostly nature and community, fishing, hunting, hiking, boating, surfing, diving, even back country skiing 1/2 hour up hill, so free, although there are paid events too, we even had GWAR play a few times in Eureka, but no opera or ballet.

My wife and I live on $30k....we have 4 cars, pets, vacations, a large pond, hot tub, etc. Because I have room, I grow a lot of our produce and we have around 40 fruit trees. We aren't putting any extra in the bank, but aren't depleting our savings either.

We are the marijuana capital of America, if you know the right people, it's maybe $100 an oz for A grade, $10-20 a gram for wax/oil.

All in all, it depends on your lifestyle. It would be easy to spend all you save living here on gas, or easy to not have a car at all if you're in town and will ride a bike in the rain. While there are certainly cheaper places to live, I'm not sure there's better. Our forests are gorgeous with skyscraper redwoods, the ocean is cold but clean here, the rivers unspoilt and full of fish, our air is some of the cleanest in the lower 48, water is too, and our summer daytime temperature is mostly 70-75 F, winter is low 50's- freezing, but we have very few freezing days.

Mckinleyville, just above Arcata, was (still is?) the largest town in California with no police, only highway patrol. They got a multiplex before police!

We have a ton of immigration from the bay area, but more often than not they move back because they miss the fast pace and abundant services and entertainment....I didn't.

Hope that helps. We love it here, but we're slow paced and super cheap bastards. If you are too, come check it out.

Newt,

You've mentioned living in Humbolt County -- how is the cost of living there? Arcata is on my retirement short-list.

Ants Invade Park

Ants Invade Park?

Aren't you treading in someone else's jurisdiction, Mo? huummMMM?

I realize you're roughly 70,000 votes behind the antster on the Big Boy Board but this makes you look, hungry.

You know I respect you and hold you as a mentor and powerhouse sifter. I could never hope to get close enough to even smell your farts; but stepping on ants to get to the top of the hill...?

Yes, I know you told me you were a rule breaker but..., still.

So now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go make some sweetened milk for my little buddy.

GOP Stands by Kavanaugh Despite Sexual Assault Allegations

newtboy says...

I agree, there's no proof the accusations happened.
There could easily be proof that contradicts her story, though, and if there is, it makes an FBI investigation dangerous for her.
If she/they can prove he lied under oath about details that can be proven, even if the underlying charge can't be, he should be disqualified to be a judge imo.

Far more worrying to me is the accusations he helped his mentor, Kozenski, hide his decades of sexual misconduct, abuses he was removed from the bench/forced into early retirement for but that Kavanaugh, his close friend and confidant, claimed to know nothing about, even though Kozenski had public websites dedicated to racially and sexually inappropriate materials and many accusations of inappropriate behavior at work, including forced pornography viewings in his chambers by female clerks.
Edit: if he's willing to hide one bosses crimes, what's he prepared to do for Trump?

Yes, I hope we've made some progress since the way Anita Hill was attacked for coming forward at great personal cost, but I doubt it. It's clear those in control are unphased by the accusations, true or not, because he's their only chance to drive the court far right. Nothing else matters to them. That is a sad state we find ourselves in.

Even if they did, it wouldn't show evidence that he assaulted her. She has no worries about an FBI investigation because there is no evidence to find. Literally none, other than the marriage counselling thing you mentioned.

I'm sorry, but simply accusing someone of assault doesn't mean it happened. I don't know what her reasons are and I don't know if he did assault her, I just know that as long as we have no evidence he couldn't be convicted by a court in the nation. If he couldn't be convicted, he shouldn't be held accountable as far as his future career goes. I recall that it used to be innocent until proven guilty, not the way it is now.

I am worried he will end up fucking up Roe v Wade and I support legal abortions, but at the same time, I can't say he should be barred from the opportunity of his lifetime based on a simple accusation from someone who went 36 years without mentioning it to anyone other than her husband and marriage counselor.

Anita Hill had a much better case versus Clarence Thomas and the Democrats still voted him into SCOTUS.

If they allowed her husband and their therapist to testify and present his notes as evidence, they could at least prove she told the same story in 2012 with no interest in going public with her story or even naming Kavanaugh privately...or that she's an evil supergenius that started planning this fraud 6+ years ago.

Yes, there might be reasons to want to prevent his appointment, but it's a stretch to believe this successful professional wife and mother would knowingly upend her life and the lives of her family permanently in hopes of delaying his confirmation slightly and smearing his name as a likely best case scenario if she were making it up. It also doesn't make sense that she would request a formal FBI investigation since lying to them is a crime they often prosecute harshly.
It's possible she's a liar and a nut sacrificing herself for short term political gains, but it really seems unlikely.

I do agree, there are a lot of reasons why someone might want to prevent him from being selected. I have a few myself.

Sutton Foster: Anything Goes rehearsal performance

Digitalfiend says...

Anyone know who the short older gentleman is? It's driving me nuts because I know I've seen him in television before but can't think of his name.

Edit:

Joel Grey ... and oddly I remember him from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series. Didn't know he was also in Remo Williams; now that's a blast from my past ... all those cheesy/fun 80's action movies: The Golden Child, Commando, Beverly Hills Cop, Big Trouble In Little China.

...and damn he's still lively for an 86 year old!
