Unprecedented Partnership between Fox News and Trump

RFlagg says...

What @newtboy said. Seems all the Conservatives forgot the Golden Rule of do unto others... they treated Obama like shit for 8 years. Fox couldn't go 15 minutes without bashing Obama or the Democrats. The MSM doesn't have a bias, it is the fact that Trump keeps inserting foot into mouth, because he tries his best to keep in the front page of the media headlines, even if it is negative, because he knows he can spin that to his followers like Bob, who'll believe 100% everything coming out of his lying mouth. So to Trump, even the negative is great, because it is great for Fox who can spin it like, look how negative it all is... oh we got one guy who's almost negative about Trump on at a time nobody watches, so we can pretend we are "fair and balanced" but reality is, we are 100% pure propaganda, America's own Provda.
Of course this is all for not, Bob and Trump's other followers (because it is cult) will never change their mind, and nothing they can say will change the mind of free thinking people.

MAGA kids Full video(1h40m of context)

JiggaJonson says...

Far as I can tell, the action starts around timestamp 1:12:25

Watch the sidewalk where the native American man is standing; he does approach the crowd, but there's two squares between him and the crowd.

At 1:12:55, the MAGA hats have closed the gap between the two groups. The native American man is still standing in the same square of concrete, but now he's got a crowd of young men around him jeering and jumping.

I suppose this does belong in the Lies channel, but let's be clear about who seems to be distorting what's happening here: https://fox59.com/2019/01/20/new-video-raises-question-about-confrontation-between-students-native-americans/

^in this instance, the Fox news organization uses the headline "New video raises question about confrontation between students, Native Americans"

The operative word here is "confrontation"
dictionary.com defines the verb https://www.dictionary.com/browse/confront

Yes the man approached the crowd, but there was room to avoid the interaction. He did head in their direction, but I'd liken it to what I used to witness in college when one drunk guy was yelling at another across a busy road (we used to drink outdoors and wait for the food trucks/vendors to arrive).

If one man was yelling at another, it was easy to shrug off and enjoy the entertainment. If both were yelling, it was close to the same, entertaining, maybe more attention grabbing because you could hear the back and forth and wonder what they were talking about. However.

It didn't become what one would describe as a confrontation until one side came to actually meet the other and close the gap between them.

They both had permits for protesting in the area, as far as I'm concerned, the native american man has just as much a right to protest them as he does anything else. Leaving the space between the two groups is not the beginning of what a confrontation is. When the crowd closes the gap without him advancing, THAT is when you could call it a confrontation.

Was he antagonizing? Of course! that's what protesters do. Did he confront them? No, they closed the gap and proceeded to surround him.

Vegan Diet or Mediterranean Diet: Which Is Healthier?

Mordhaus says...

Yeah, any type of cherry picking in studies irks me badly. For instance, I recently got into an internet argument with one of the people who try to claim we didn't land on the moon.

They were using the results of a single study that tentatively said the Van Allen radiation outside of LEO possibly causes higher rates of cardio-vascular disease in astronauts. I then read the study and found out they picked 7 out of the 13 deceased astronauts vs a sample of 100 LEO astronauts, plus the general public's rates of CVD. That set off my alarm bells, so I then looked at the ages the people died at and their actual cause of death on the internet.

Three of the astronauts died at 56, 61, and 61. So basically about a decade early. The other 4 died in their 80's, basically a decade later than average. Out of those 4, they were suffering other conditions and illnesses that might have influenced the final cardiac failure. Sadly no one in the scientific community seems willing to challenge the study, so it stays valid, and the news media posted great big headlines about it when it came out.

Like I told the person I was arguing with, the median age of death of lunar astronauts is 87, even including the three that died early. Even if Van Allen radiation increases CVD likelihood, living to 80 something is pretty damn spectacular, so it really doesn't matter if you die from CVD, cancer, or a stroke.

In this interview Neal Barnard admits he exaggerates and lies to get people to consider going vegan.....
https://www.livekindly.co/dr-neal-barnard-accused-cherry-picking-studies-netflixs-health/

Edit:
Far from the first time, I have yet to hear a vegan doctor who wasn't a bold faced liar about the science. One claimed the WHO had declared eating moderate levels of red meat more dangerous than smoking cigarettes when in fact the study he cited was for high consumption of highly processed cured meats and only said they appear to be carcinogenic and need more study, they did not make a comparison with cigarettes or rate the danger levels, but vegans still make that false claim based on these "doctors'" exaggerated claims because it seems being vegan rots your brain.

Obama, Mueller and the Biggest Scam in American History

Drachen_Jager says...

In other words, "Hard-Right Trump Supporter Carries Water for Trump"

Not exactly a front-page headline. But then again, all you've got is political hacks who lie for a living @bobknight33 how about providing ACTUAL evidence, instead of a bunch of BS stories that don't even mesh with eachother and have nothing to back them up other than a proven liar's declaration.

Robbery Stopped With Swords

Mordhaus says...

Funny, but the robbers had axes. The owners had a defensible position and swords. Since this is known now, the robbers can bring bows and...soon you end back up with guns.

The only alternative to this is to disarm everyone, knowing the criminals will not obey, and hope that the 'safer' weapons the criminals do use will at least allow for a less wounded victim. This method also relies on the victim to capitulate completely in mortal fear.

Many might prefer the second method, I do not. Sadly, most nutjobs and criminals know that good targets can be found in any state, some much more than others but realistically any state is vulnerable.

Why? Because even in gun friendly states, 'gun free' zones exist. Nine times out of ten, that 'gun free' zone is going to be the target. You will hear stories that say "Oh, a person was shot at a gun range/show" or "Chris Kyle was killed with a friend at a gune range." What those stories leave out are the details, because the headline is what matters when you are pushing an agenda.

The gun range Chris Kyle was shot at is an outdoor one, the three men were alone and isolated. The mental one shot two men and fled. You will hardly read that, usually the image they want to present is that multiple other gun owners were standing around and did nothing.

You will see stories about people shot at other ranges or at gun shows. What they generally won't mention is that almost all of them are due to either a self wound (suicide) or an accidental shooting from poor handling.

Drachen_Jager said:

I was just going to say that. Looks like it's the father about to take his son's face off actually.

Also, see, Americans? If you don't have guns everywhere, you don't NEED a "good guy with a gun". (also the "good guy with a gun" doesn't end up getting shot by the f-ing police when they show up as has happened twice recently now)

Can This Change Everything for DJs

kir_mokum says...

it offers nothing new to a DJ's workflow while replacing one failure point with 2 new ones (battery and proprietary RF) and adds another stupid little box that's definitely going to cause problems during setup. DVSs are already a pain in the ass, have compromised sound quality, have latency issues, fail all the time (both user error and software/hardware errors) which is one of the many reasons why almost no touring DJs outside the turntablism/party rock world use them anymore. 99.9% of headliners and locals are USB/SD card and CDJ2000s.

the rane 12 is a much more robust and professional product that fills the same gap as this toy. also, i swear i saw this getting hyped around 5 years ago.

White House revokes CNN reporters press pass

Briguy1960 says...

I was referring to the headline itself.
It seemed to be inferring that if only they had a wee bit more time... seeing as you were all about how things were being phrased.
That is how I took it at first but then was actually somewhat miffed they didn't fulfill my bias against them in the actual article.
I read into it what I was used to seeing on there.
I could have deleted it but I let it stand as an exercise in how the mind sees what it wants or is expecting to.
As for the decision on Acosta.
I saw that early this morning.
It was of course covered by Fox as well.

newtboy said:

WTF are you talking about?
The CNN article was totally unbiased, simply explaining why some counties missed their deadlines for recounts by 2 minutes (inexperience and ignorance of the process) and so didn't have their recounts count, and why another (properly) invalidated it's own recount because their machines kept breaking and they couldn't verify their own results.
I also don't get what you're saying about their title. Not a bit. Where's the bias there? What?! No recount counts, they're doing them all over....by hand.

Where's the excusing law bending, like the Republican who unapologetically broke state law to allow email and fax voting, but Fox reported that type of voting isn't"normally allowed" not "is specifically forbidden by state law"? Notice any patterns yet?

I just don't see what you're talking about at all.

I've been clear, Fox doesn't have a monopoly on bias, but they are the clear master of the field and are also the most willing to make up their own facts, as they've been caught doing thousands of times.
If CNN has a bias rating of 4/10, Fox is closer to 9/10. If Fox has an honesty rating of 4/10, CNN is closer to 8-9/10. That's what I've been saying all along. They aren't equivalent.

Side note-A federal judge reinstated Acosta's press pass today.

White House revokes CNN reporters press pass

Briguy1960 says...

Hmm
CNN seems to have no trouble bending the law
and are even quite indignant about the folks that simply followed the law with the tone of that headline.

Are you starting to see the patterns yet?
Fox isn't the only News/Entertainment business that prefers to see things in a certain light which is what I have been trying to say all along.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/15/politics/broward-county-recount-didnt-count/index.html

newtboy said:

That's a pretty biased way to minimize the fact that he violated clear state law that prohibits vote by email or fax, and refuses to remove the fraudulent votes from his tallies.

"Neither means of communication is normally allowed"....a far cry from the truth, "both means of voting are specifically prohibited by law", and quite short of how they characterize being a few minutes late filing provisional, military, and mail in ballots in other counties. That is illegal, anti American election tampering by frauds and criminals that should be jailed in Fox's opinion, but this blatant direct violation of election law is just the election official being helpful....and you still claim they're less biased.....

Michelle Wolf at 2018 White House Correspondents' Dinner

L0cky says...

Was avoiding watching this as I was getting hints it was a cringeworthy bomb from the news headlines.

I just watched it and it's masterful, she totally landed it. The control of the audience was amazing. The one time she had total silence from a joke was completely intentional for the follow up.

/me adds Michelle Wolf to list of comedians to keep watching.

If you've been avoiding it for similar reasons, go give it a watch.
