Stupid driver or attempted murder?

Hmn. .yes, the front tyres aren't spinning the right way for trying to reverse (assuming front wheel drive).

The rear wheels look totally locked.. suggesting use of the handbrake (I guess removing any chance of gaining traction at the rear = stupid driver).

The front wheels are bound to rotate if you aren't braking and are travelling forwards down a hill.

The handbrake locks the rear wheels which allows you to swing the rear of the car arround. If done correctly you can go through a turn much faster. It's not good on tires though. See this video for an example:

Notice that on the last one his rear wheels are not turning because he has applied the hand brake to swing the car arround to line him up with the exit and power straight out. If you were to try and take that turn without using the hand brake, you would lose several seconds.

BTW, I'm not saying she did a good job of using the hand brake, I'm sure a more skilled driver could have beaten the RC car.

WRC is different to track racing, smooth is fast on the track, shouldn't really touch the handbrake but instead just tried to glide into the corner under no acceleration and power out while attempting to run over that little sh*tbox at every corner. (used to race mini cooper S originals)
