Penn Says: Happy High Taxes

Lawdeedaw says...

I upvote for the gangbang joke because it made me poop my pants laughing. 9 out of 10 is funny because one man or woman is unhappy because they are the receiver of the bang...

However, where do taxes and gangbangs go together? "Well, I'm not saying the government is raping you, your wife and your children, but I think they are raping you at least."

The problem I've always had with that point of view is that if you turn your back on the world because you think it's not worth the effort to make it better, then you can't at all be surprised when the world turns its back on you when you're in a pinch. You create the world you choose to live in. If you choose to create a world of indifference, then you reap what you sow.

We can't turn our backs on the world because we're a PART of the world, which is what he's trying to say. You could close your eyes and ignore it and try to work only for your own happiness--and you might be even be able to succeed for a little while and be happy. But at some point the world you've been ignoring is going to come along mess everything up like, for example, when some gangbanger's stray bullet hits your house or when fundamentalist religious zealots from a country on the other side of the world decide to fly planes into two skyscrapers in your city.

More than at anytime in our history, humankind has come to find that we are all interconnected. Our individual actions DO matter because our collective actions as individuals shape the world: take global warming as just one example.

The world certainly won't become a better place if people sit around and do nothing. Like he says in the video, greatness is found when we don't close our eyes but work with others and help each other to make this world a better place. I personally happen to believe that that is also the only way to true happiness as well.

where do people like him find the strength to care is beyond me. All true and nice but when it comes down to it, the world is full of shit, people are shit more often than not and yea I'd probably sooner find myself giving up on it all and just trying to make the most out of my life in the most egocentric way than helping make it a better tomorrow. That Tomorrow is so far away it's science fiction, I just wanna get drunk and listen to some music.

G20 Toronto - Police Rape Threats, Strip Search - Amy Miller

>> ^joedirt:
what kind of loser makes comments trying to blame victims and be apologist when she seems reasonable and recounting events in a non-sensational way for the media.

You are wrong. She was not being "non-sensational." Hell, with the topics of her speech, there is no way she could be non-sensational (No offense to her or you. Rape and gangbang and police brutality is just that, a sensational recounting.)

She does use pre-thought language in a calm (Cold?) manner that would be a great boon for any lawyer, but that is calculated, not non-sensational. She is also very general and very broad (A mitigating fact if she is lying and it also leaves room to make shit up.) In fact, the one thing she states that specifically happened (The men strip searching the women,) was a stutter fest of epic-fail proportions.

You want a comment I find strangely amusing? When she says, "What I would find threatening..."

See, that statement is calculating to me because it makes you think... she was threatened by those threatening statements. Most people in her situation would say, "I was threatened *Insert threatening comments.*" Simple, angry, to the point and not predetermined. But her way makes you think and makes you repusled... I mean, these police obviously thought those statements were not threatening (It is what she is implying without saying such...)

Well, hopefully she is lying but if not, hopefully the police are punished severly. (I am hoping for the least of two evils...)

************************************************************************************Edit

What is a more probable accounting would be around this...

The police threatened that if she goes to prision or jail, she would be raped and gangbanged (by prisioners.) That may be an inappropriate comment, but it is not them actually threatening to rape and gangbang her. Those are two completely different beasts. Hell, Scared Staight, the show about teens, used those threats on kids all the time... It supposedly scared some away from crime... It is an observation, not a threat, because rape is rampant in Prision compared to the street.

Still, if it was unlikely she was going to go to prision, the cops were being hats...

Next, the he said/she said of the finger incident... SHE WAS NOT THERE AND IT WAS SECOND HAND GOSSIP BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT KNOW FOR SURE!!! How dare she assume it happened! All these people have a reason to hate the cops... She lost all credibility there...

Even if it happened, it was probably conducted by a medical person as a cavity search because of some comment the protester/friend of hers made. Cavity searches, when done properly, are not against the law in some areas... I think... But what I think is not the point. Point is, why should she put her story on someone else's word?

She might be making it up, true, but if in fact there were 25 other women in there with her, receiving the same threats, she wouldn't be the only one making the claims soon.

I say this--25 people use the similar verbiage (Or many of them,) then it is collaboration. If not, there could be truth to what they say. Fear is also a good indication of whether she is lying or not; if she had time to think on the happenings then fear would fade to anger... After all, if I was in a position to have you gangbanged and raped, you might be either A-scared or B-mad... If you saw certain females getting fingered at the cops whims, well, then the threat is not just “perhaps,” it is very real… Silly layers of all the emotion crap humans go through...

I am not saying these indicators are failsafe---however, they are a start. But what happens if she is lying? What should be her fair punishment for her? Ruining people’s lives and marriages and such? That is what usually happens in cases of accusing rape… I have always advocated that if they can prove lying in regards to such a major incident--maybe through video showing no strip searches--then any woman capable of such a horrendous crime against decency should face massive jail time. Otherwise it is a he said she said... (I am aslo not just concerned about the victim in regards to a lie, but I am also concerned about future women who have serious cases of abuse will be less likely to be believed. That is probably the most important perspective.)

Oh---her verbiage is good by itself in this video too... She uses all the right words one should use in court... Some sensational words, others very definition-correct... She reminds me of my mother who was a pathological liar... Well, due to that, I withhold my judgment.

I find the tension and conflict of this video interesting, but I don't think there is any justification for making the old guy a hero or internet celebrity. He clearly has issues and seemed to be just as interested in violence as his counterpart.
I think peggedbea is right, that interjecting race into the title and tags is creepy, and issykitty makes a good point as to how appealing this has become to the racists of youtube. It doesn't mean that everyone who voted for this is a raging, lynching klansman, but it may be indicative of the subtler prejudices that all of us harbor deep inside our subconscious. Either way, it's worthy of discussion.
If this hot, viral video were framed as two crazy idiots fighting on a bus, I wouldn't see much problem with it, but that's not how it's been framed. Instead, it's young black thug vs. elderly white marine. Or even worse Ignorant, illiterate black gangbanger vs bearded Nordic God.
In America, intercity blacks are feared. They are portrayed in the media as either criminal thugs or lazy bums who live off of government aid. The only positives you ever hear are about the occasional football or basketball player who gets a scholarship and escapes. Black neighborhoods are avoided by white people, who describe these places with words like 'scary' 'sketchy' or 'rough', but if you actually take the time to explore these areas, you find regular people. People who work. People who love their children. People who mow their lawns. As a white person, I've felt no overt prejudice against me in these places. I've felt no danger or threat upon my personal safety. It's just not the warzone it's made out to be in the media.
For some, this video will not only confirm false media stereotypes, but also goes the extra mile to punish that stereotype with violence. Don't get me wrong, the black guy in this video seems like a creep, and goes to great lengths to live up to the most negative of negative black stereotypes, right down to his inability to pronounce a very common word, but for many, this one single man's behavior will serve as a confirmation and justification for irrational, subconscious racial fears.
I'm not judging nomino, or anyone. I voted this thing up, myself, before bea and issy gave me some pause, so I'm not claiming to be better or wiser than anyone else here. Race is a really tough subject for Americans, complicated by history, tradition, media, politics and economics. I think it's OK to find this conflict on a bus compelling, and to also admit that there might be more going on in our subconscious minds than we'd like. dark fear
Since I'm in the confessional, I might as well mention that I wish I could take my vote back from another video, featuring a European man slapping a woman, causing her to cry. Lots of subconscious shit going on there too.

I agree both the guys would have been wiser to defuse the situation. It's an expensive risk to absorb that anyone you meet like that might be carrying a knife or a gun. The stakes in life are high, and all it takes is one bout of bad luck...

I can understand it sucks for the younger guy... he can't complain since he certainly carries some amount over 50% of the responsibility for what happened, but his brain made him think it was a good idea, and now he just feels more victimized by life than he did before he got the tables turned on him.

"He clearly has issues and seemed to be just as interested in violence as his counterpart."

I think it's certainly a good instinct to be understanding of both sides... it's a higher human impulse... but it seems like this can also go so far as creating a false symmetry. The younger guy (1) did force the older guy to the other side of the bus, (2) did then go after him and throw the first punch, and (3) did legally commit assault (touching someone who doesn't want to be touched, particularly while threatening violence). For all the old guy knew, the next punch could have had a knife with it.

Yeah, it's good to not excessively vilify high crime areas... but I feel like some of this goes so far as to imply that statistics are irrational. On another note, this video would be just as appealing to many people if it featured an Aussie thug (a small minority of Aussies) and an Indian-Australian.

That being said, I think you're right... it'd be better to not inject race into the title, and most people who live in statistically risky areas are good people, same as everywhere.

Farewell Buell

Well I rode the first one that came out, and although they had gotten better this one was damn crude and uncomfortable. With that pipe pointing straignt at the tarmac it made an awful sound, not the sweeter Harley tone, but a smack smack smack that you couldn't get away from. The mirrors weren't usable because they jiggled like the ears of a bunny being gangbanged way up there on the fairing. Handling was better than any Harley obviously, but if you're going to make a sport bike, why use that gawdawful shared journal crank and narrow V like a piece scabbed of a radial aeroplane motor? I gotta say, sorta doomed from the start.
