Let’s hope so. He knows what he’s doing. If Obama is really pulling the strings then I assume you won’t be insulting Biden anymore since he’s not really in charge, right? Derp.

I disagree, but ok, kill off “conservative” media and we’ll get rid of the half that’s all lies, media issues solved. Just get rid of all opinion programming and channels masquerading as news and the effect is the same.

But to be sure, they didn’t cause all the division, but they did help Trump exploit and amplify it by misdirecting republicans so thoroughly that pederastic vampire cabals that get political power and youth through infant blood cocktails and the fictional recreational use of adrenochrome sounds real and reasonable to half of them... (ridiculously taking fantasy scenes from Clockwork Orange and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as factual accounts, recreational use has never happened and the few clinical studies indicated it causes Schizophrenia and other obvious mental disorders) ...so idiotic they convinced conservatives a foreign president who has been dead over 8 years actively interfered in the last election....so deceptive they gladly and knowingly repeated the lies Trump fed them about election fraud as if they were fact to the point they were sued for billions in damages their lies caused American companies while not reporting that every agency tasked with election security contradicted their specious and spurious claims....with evidence to back them up unlike the claims of fraud.
Without the division right wing nut job conspiracy theories (and those who believe, repeat, and amplify them) have done, yes, America would be rocking. Sadly, you and your ilk have not returned to reality yet....tens of millions of you are just waiting for Q to tell them why reality is wrong and they’re correct.

Back to that hack. Rest assured I'm sure the is pulling Biden strings.

National division is the fault of the media. They are the great dividers of American. IF only they wold push truth instead of 1/2 truth America would be rocking.

Interesting rant. From a media person who will undoubtedly defend to the death the ability of "the media" to pick and choose who is elected and what misguided, ill-intended, and destructive bills are enacted into law. Clearly contemptuous of any world view other than his own.

For a democracy to survive, there has to be compromise and a willingness to understand and provide some level of respect to differing viewpoints. We've just been through eight years of selective enforcement of the laws, selective respect for individual rights, and policy driven by executive order to bypass the legislative process.

Why all the sudden "fear and loathing in Washington DC" when the current arrogant, misguided administration is using the tactics of the former arrogant, misguided administration????

... and one more for good measure: The Fury and Failure of Donald Trump by Matt Taibbi

Hell of a zinger right at the start:
"Keeping up with Trump revelations is exhausting. By late October, he'll be caught whacking it outside a nunnery. There are not many places left for this thing to go that don't involve kids or cannibalism. We wait, miserably, for the dong shot."

And it only gets better:
"Trump's early rampage through the Republican field made literary sense. It was classic farce. He was the lewd, unwelcome guest who horrified priggish, decent society, a theme that has mesmerized audiences for centuries, from Vanity Fair to The Government Inspector to (closer to home) Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. When you let a hands-y, drunken slob loose at an aristocrats' ball, the satirical power of the story comes from the aristocrats deserving what comes next. And nothing has ever deserved a comeuppance quite like the American presidential electoral process, which had become as exclusive and cut off from the people as a tsarist shooting party."

I think the point of the video is to mock the double standard. Reversing the sexes changed the perception because there's no longer a "damsel in distress" vibe. People are more apt to acknowledge the sexual autonomy of men as agents acting of their own free will, and from that perspective Chris Hansen becomes ridiculous. Anglophone countries' ages of consent of 16-18 are higher than most of continental Europe's 14, and I suspect it's something to do with Victorian fear and loathing of sex. Certainly law almost never gets made on the basis of empirical data such as psychology research. Age of consent can be justified as a tradeoff between the quantity of foolish people below the age who will do things they later regret, and the quantity of unfoolish people below the age whose freedom will be harmed. Government should be circumspect about protecting people from their own free will.

Good - if that's the right word - post. What is wrong with humans!!?? Ethnicity, religion, left, right, extremist, etc. etc. We have learned nothing from the history of "them and us." We, instead, have increased our hatred, fear, and loathing of those not affiliated to our particular "tribe." Those waiting gleefully for the apocalypse will, I fear, not have to wait too much longer. But it will not be what is hoped for. An apocalypse yes, but not one brought on by a god, one brought on by the ignorance and stupidity of humans.

I think a quote from fear and loathing in las vegas best describes joey diaz.

"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."

Steve Jobs: Marketing 101

aurens says...

It's funny you should pick out Gandhi and Lennon. Steve Jobs took an influential trip to India in 1974 (one which affected his life outlook in lots of ways, and one for which Gandhi, I would imagine, serves as an emblematic figure), and he was a big fan of The Beatles, both musically and organizationally: "My model for business is The Beatles: They were four guys that kept each other's negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other. And the total was greater than the sum of the parts."

I totally dig your point, generally applied; lots of ads strike me as disingenuous and (emotionally) opportunistic. I like this particular ad, though. To me it comes off, at least in part, as more of a personal (and genuine) homage to some of the people who inspired Steve Jobs at various points in his life.>> ^kymbos:

This captures beautifully what fills me with fear and loathing for people who invest their lives in marketing. Fucking Ghandi, brought to you by Apple? It makes me sick to my stomach, the gall of it. John Lennon, for fuck's sakes. Have you no shame?
And yet I know how many clever, intelligent, morally bewildering people spend their lives trying to make me feel something for companies, and probably succeed against my best intentions.

Somewhere Around Barstow

holymackerel013 says...

I read this book in 1996 and fell in love with it. In 97' I got out of the military and was working at a psych hospital in northern AZ. Me and my wife decided to drive to Vegas. When we got onto the freeway I noticed this paper sign with "Fear and Loathing" printed on it. It had an arrow pointing in the direction we were driving. We got onto the highway and kept passing up these fake cacti. I told my wife "those look like the artwork from the book!" We passed up the production crew at one point. It was just strange being a huge fan of HST and driving right threw all of this scene on my own way to Vegas.
