New Coen Brothers Trailer: "True Grit"
I love that I never know what the Coen's are coming out with until it's almost ready to be released. This could be pretty cool.
Hallelujah! I'm a Bum
Harry did the original memorable to you chilluns' version of Big Rock Candy Mountain from the opening credits of the Coen's, "O' Brother Where Art Thou"...he wrote it an' shit.....

Which upcoming film releases are you looking forward to? (Cinema Talk Post)
>> ^Eklek:
Cannes had some heavy entries this year and Antichrist/Enter the Void are probably worthwhile to watch..Haneke's film doesn't look like fun indeed - saw the trailer - but knowing his reputation..
The most recent Cormac McCarthy film The Road is hopefully (almost) as good as No Country for Old Men..but the new Coen bros film, A serious man, I don't know..
Korine will be good I guess, hope they'll release the Korine film, his last film was not.
Herzog with 2 films coming out..good stuff..
And a new Todd Solondz, black humour:)
Avatar will be an interesting moment in cinema history..
And indeed 2010 with Burton's Alice; Nolan's scifi..
and King Shot (produced by Lynch)

Dunston Checks In
Indeed something to look backward to..and think, why? Any flicks you're looking forward to blankie?
And Sarzy, you'll do a report from the festival on your blog? Wish I could be there..
I really do want to see Antichrist. Farhad, where is the torrent? I cant find it.
I am really curious about the road, also. Hopefully it will be better than the trailer makes it look. I loved the book. I seriously doubt that it will be on the level of no country.
I also really want to see my son, my son, the newest from herzog, presented by lynch.
Also, the new hirokazu kore-eda, still walking, looks very promising.
Eklek, I bet if you are not already on it, you would love www.theauteurs.com

A Serious Man (Trailer - New Coen Brothers Movie)
^ really?! both of those films completely restored my faith in the coens after the blip that was ladykillers and intolerable cruelty. especially no country for old men. fucking fantastic movie.
Guy Movies (Cinema Talk Post)
Drax,
I couldn't agree more about "The Hudsucker Proxy". I can't tell why people don't like this movie. I think it might just be hard to take in all the rat-a-tat, fast paced banter but this really is one of the Coen's gems.
However:
It's funny to me that I couldn't disagree more about "Event Horizon". It's just Hellraiser with a space ship for gad's sake. How is it that people can associate "pure chaos" with just chains and razorblades? It would seem to me that pure chaos would be just that: something that you couldn't possibly understand any part of. You wouldn't even fear it after you got there because it wouldn't make sense. After entering, no part of you would be in order anymore. Thus, you wouldn't really even exist.
It's just like that movie "Sunshine" that I was excited to see. Great initial concept and then all-of-a-sudden there's a freakish looking sunburned guy chasing people around with an electric scalpel. WTF? Isn't the initial concept, i.e.: falling into the sun, entering a reality of pure chaos scary enough without all the fish-hooks and blood spattered walls?
Anyway,
I think I agree with most of the suggestions above. Especially "Conan" or: The story of one young man's struggle against adversity in a harsh, unforgiving world and how he wrestles a giant snake and eventually cuts off James Earl Jones' head with his golden sword-phallus.
Best Movie Ever, Period
Miller's Crossing main theme
loved this movie. this and Barton Fink are 2 Coen Brothers movies that most people haven't seen. both definitely worth a watch.
"Tom Hanks, WTF?"
in case you have ears as useless as mine...
"All right, it's late and I'm paying my babysitter overtime and I have to pee, so ... everybody fucking likes you. All my bits are gone. Listen, I had lunch today with Rita [Wilson' Hanks' wife], and her tits were here and her waist was here and her ass was all that. So, what can I tell you that's new?
Tom Hanks - what the fuck? Listen ... Bosom Buddies, people. Me: a fan. Bosom Buddies. I saw Turner & Hooch, The Money Pit; I missed That Thing [You Do!]. I love the Coen Brothers, but the hair, Tom - I don't even know what the fuck that movie was about. You in the airport with the accent; it was a pass for me. Do you love airports, or were you dissing immigrant laws? I didn't know! I love you, and I didn't know what to do. Silly. God, I'm wearing the same fucking dress tonight as your publicist.
Listen, I've got to get home. But I must say this - Tom Hanks, I love you. You do something that two other people on the planet do - and this is true, people. It's so dark out there [in the auditorium], I feel like I'm in space. Thank you, whoever made it light - JJ Abrams, are you here?
But truly, people who Tom and I don't know, I was going to tell you something that is really profound and comes from the heart that I do have. Which is this: Tom can walk into any room and make you feel like you're in your living room, truly. Make you feel comfortable, make you feel like you have something interesting to contribute, make you feel like there's a reason you're on the planet.
And that's a true gift. That isn't acting, and isn't, you know, dinner-party games; it's heart and it's compassion and it's soul. And he has that, and only a couple of other people - that I gave birth to - have that. And also, Sally Field played my mom once!
Tom, I love you, I love you so much. I love Rita. And it's also - this is my big moment, because now I get to say, ladies and gentlemen, one of really my favorite people on planet Earth - and now I'm going to leave and go home - Mr Fabulous, Mike Nichols."
