AT&T and T-Mobile: My Bill

shagen454 says...

It's funny how the people of the other side of the coin like to say they are for smaller government & deregulation like they go hand in hand. Basically, mergers are a right-wing cause. Thank the republicans for fucking your futures, outsourcing your jobs, deregulating to an extent that corporations have the rights (if not more) of an individual and are able to create monopolies thereby screwing the middle class more and more every single day.

What we need is strict regulation, new laws and a new labor movement. I used to be alright with rich folk (like my parents) but now that I've seen the upper-class piss and shit all over the middle & lower classes I am all for CLASS WAR. Fuck them.

Am I losing my bend to the Left? (Blog Entry by dag)

Very rarely does someone fit squarely into an ism.

*Wanting corporations to pay taxes is not conservative. Not liking having to pay taxes is human. I'd feel much better about paying taxes if they weren't being dumped into corporate coffers through bailouts, subsidies and no-bid contracts.

*Social welfare is an attempt to limit the damage caused by our economic system. Our particularly ugly American version of capitalism (whose destruction cuts across all ideological lines) creates unemployment, low wages, inflation, and dramatic economic disparity. No amount of self determination and bootstrapping will end these systemic problems. You can argue the merits and effectiveness of individual social welfare programs, but at the end of the day, the problems they were created to remedy will still exist. If we restructured the system to be more beneficial to labor, there would less need for these kinds of band-aids.

*Small government and efficient government are two different things. "Small" is a purposely vague and arbitrary term. Powerful interests like "small" inefficient, ineffective governments, because they are easy to control. I'd like our government to be as big as it needs to be in order to be efficient. No bigger, no smaller.

*There are other lefties that support nuclear power.

*Everyone loves the constructive, creative side of the free market. It's the economic class war that results from unregulated markets that causes all the problems. In order for Trump to have his billions, other people are going to have to live in poverty to support his lifestyle. The free market is a system of winners and losers, opulence and suffering. You can't have one without the other.

*Optimism and pessimism are present on all sides of the spectrum. I am pessimistic about the times we live in, but optimistic about the future, because things have steadily become better for us since the dawn of humanity. As MLK said, "Let us realize the arc of the moral universe is long but it bends toward justice."

*Conservatism doesn't have a lock on theism. Liberalism doesn't have a lock on atheism. While Protestants, Evangelists, Mormons and Muslims are usually socially conservative, Catholics, Jews, Buddhists and Unitarians are usually liberal. Conversely, Ayn Rand, Milton Friedman and the neo-conservative movement they inspired are atheist in nature (although their dogmatic, pie-in-the-sky economic views are a faith of sorts).

It'd be more possible for class war if they didn't already have our nuts twisted up in the palm of their hand. It'd be more possible if working class people would wake up and see that Obama is a joke just as much as the Bush Administration was and that the two party system in general is just a fucking corporate scam.

It'd be more possible if people everywhere realized that right-wing/conservative/libertarian ideology is entirely about consolidating the dominion of the rich and powerful over the rest of us, and adopted a generally left-wing view of the world.

Once that happens, yes, people would notice that Democrats aren't really left-wing, but this is something the left says all the time.

The issue here isn't that an insufficient number of liberals will talk smack about Obama, it's the millions of people who think the biggest problems in our country are that taxes are too high on businesses, government aid to the poor is too generous, and worker safety regulation is a tyrannical imposition on liberty.

Fear is a wonderful emotion. It will keep you alive. The left wants everyone to panic over water vapor and warm weather, so there's no monopoly on fear-mongering.

One of the State's legitimate functions is to defend its citizens from barbarians both inside and outside the gate.

The modern liberal doesn't have the will to lead. Whether deliberately practiced or not, s/he is incapable of taking a stand for anything and refuses to differentiate between not only good and evil, but what works (based on experience) and what doesn't (also based on experience).

The intellectual dishonesty of a zinn or chomsky helps no one.

QM, you seem interested in comparing modern European style socialism to a 20th century Soviet Military dictatorship. Do you understand the difference?
Do you understand that socialism, communism and capitalism are financial -rather than political- systems?
How many people has Swedish socialism killed?
What about American socialism gasp such as the highway system, schools and national parks?
Whether you know it or not, qm, we are both on the same side of the American class war - and we are both losing. I don't doubt the sincerity of your arguments, but I have to wonder if you feel you've been properly rewarded for your loyalty to powerful elites who run this country. My guess would be no.
Do you ever wonder why they fill your head with so many things to be afraid of? Commies, "Hemophiliacs", Terrorists, 'Islamofascists', Old Europe, France, Fags, Feminists, Liberals, Socialists, Illegal Aliens, Educated people, Poor people, etc............
Your entire being on this site is most accurately summed up in a single word: Afraid.
I'm sure you don't see yourself this way, but have you ever put your personal beliefs to the test? Have you ever broken down your belief system to see why you believe the things you believe?
As I have said before, your arguments seldom stray from the cliche-conservative-bumpersticker variety. Why not dig deeper? Why don't you think it through and give me your own unique opinion, rather than dittoing decades of partisan-politico programing?

"I've always wanted to be in a revolution."
"People who needed shoes were breaking windows and getting shoes, and that's the way it should be."
"What do we want? CLASS WAR! When do we want it? NOW!"
And this is what happens when the anarchists of the world unite.

I'd up vote if I could for simply showing what happened without being edited to really bias one side or another. We need more media like this available.

"A guy praising class war, whether ironically or not, when there are 100 million murdered worldwide by communism speaks volumes."

I am assuming that the 100 million number comes from The Black Book of Communism. If you actually looked at the numbers, you would've noticed that a majority (~65 million) of the deaths are due to famine. Not only are those numbers incredibly sketchy, but famines of that magnitude have a variety of causal factors. If you examined the limited evidence (regarding the famine deaths), it is really a combination of natural disasters, short-sightedness, logistical incompetence and government denial.

Now I completely agree that the governments in power are completely responsible for the deaths, but it is not unique to communism that governing incompetence has caused civilian deaths (Katrina anyone?) In the end, a catchy phrase like "communism murdered 100 million people worldwide" is really just ignorant, sensationalistic bullshit.

'Class war?' Liberals aren't good at fighting any wars, except maybe risking race war to keep power. How are liberals supposed to unite the country? They're too busy sorting everyone by race, religion, sexual orientation, income, etc.
