Homophobic message in public Iowa school

Auger8 says...

To quote Yoda's undying wisdom.

Fear creates, anger, Anger creates hate, Hate creates Suffering!

Are you telling me you've never killed a spider out of fear? Or Anger? or Hate? If you say no your lying to yourself and everyone else.

For the record I'm Arachnophobic myself so I understand how the process works.
I'm also not gay but I believe anyone and everyone has the free will to be who and what they want period.

>> ^shang:

definitely wasn't "homophobic" <- the new political correct term
phobic/phobia is a fear of, such as I have arachnophobia, but even though I am anti-gay, I do not have homophobia.
political correctness wants to redefine words, such as trying to redefine phobia to also mean hate.
again I am arachnophobic but I do not hate spiders, I fear them.

Peter Dinklage Interview on The Daily Show in 2003

therealblankman says...

I just watched the British version of "Death at a Funeral" last week- directed by Frank Oz (Fozzy Bear/Yoda), it was light and fun- Dinklage was properly hilarious.

Then a few days later I watched the American remake- starred Tracey Jordan (Morgan?), Danny Glover, Chris Rock and others. Dinklage played the same role in both. What a piece of crap- unsubtle, crass, offensive and definitely unfunny. It's strange- the same script- an almost shot-for-shot remake, and yet a complete failure of a film. The film was so bad that even Dinklage- playing the same role with the same lines kind of sucked. Shows what a difference a decent director can make.

Admiral Ackbar speaks: The Erik Bauersfeld interview

Wow, at the 3:00 mark or so he's talking about the alternate voice for Yoda. Definitely VERY different and would have been interesting. To think of what butterfly effect sort of thing a different voice would have had. I'm not sure a soft, British voice would have made Yoda as effective a character, but who knows?

Fascinating!

Europe: Lost Without Christianity

spoco2 says...

Wow, this stuff is really disgusting. How is this on CBS news? How is this not a fringe bloody Christian production? Disgusting.

I had a friend in High School that got more and more Christian, and as their Communication Project chose to show us Christian propaganda videos... including ones which decried Yoda as being dangerous and horrible because he espouses a Buddhist like belief, and meditation as a dangerous practice as it opens your mind to Satan.

This sort of shit is just so worrying. It's presented in the style of 'fact' and yet is ENTIRELY sourced from Christian sources.

HOW does this get onto a normal broadcast tv news?

Weird Al Yankovic - The Saga Begins

Nah 'Yoda' was and still is his best work.>> ^dag:

Weird Al's greatest work I think. This is a few years old, I would love to hear an updated "extended" version that covered the whole trilogy.

Darth Vader Re-Edited into Classic Movies 'Nooo!'

GeeSussFreeK says...

@critical_d Makes me wonder how much of what we love about star wars we can give him credit for. How much of it was the influence of others and the pressures of the day that shaped it. It would seem, now that he has complete control, he consistently doesn't get what people liked about it. In the little exerts, he thought we wanted to see Yoda with a lightsaber jumping around like a moron, instead of being the Yoda we all remember ("Great warrior. Wars not make one great"). I'm convinced through the prequels, special editions, and reedits that everyone around Lucas made his early films great. When I go back and watch me some Indian Jones, I see the same playful feel and interesting characters as the first star wars. Perhaps he is capable, just but this time he just wasn't up to the task. I just know that for about 2 weeks now I have been trying to imagine how I would do the prequels, perhaps I should storyboard it out
