Ya... you know, I totally understand now what your site is trying to do, and I respect and appreciate it.

What I do not respect and appreciate is how poorly this important rule of your site was communicated, and the large amount of time I spent trying to figure out what was going on.

Why not just ban the video in question, and not the entire account? I am shocked at how ridiculously self-defeating that is. Since you aren't making it clear as people join, at least give them a chance to get up to speed and self-correct. Your extreme effort at being good netizens has had precisely the opposite result.

Thanks Fjnbk, Its like I always say when I do this sort of thing... it is the most non-violent way to go up in ranking, and it also helps out fellow members to make sure that their videos are up to speed...

Its funny, your the first person to thank me when I ransacked a sift... still, glad to help anyway I can (if you call it help)...

In reply to this comment by Fjnbk:
It's no problem. Thanks, actually. I'd rather have the videos work first than worry about my rank. I'll get to fixing them now. You're doing a service to the sift.

In reply to this comment by mas8705:
Hello Fjnbk, I have just finished cleaning out your sift and I found more than 40 videos that were dead... So I like to say sorry in advance for dropping you more than ten ranks, losing almost 1000 votes and taking away your Ruby...

Sorry again...

sometimes I get conflicting emotions when I see stuff like this, I get made because of what they are doing and raping there brains with but then I get to see them in the church praying/singing with there hands in the air and eyes closed and I laugh, sometimes uncontrolably. How stupid does that look, talking to santa for more presents when your a full grown adult.

Welcome to Videosift. Coffee and donuts will be served at intermission. Please read your welcome pamphlet to get yourself up to speed.

Chris Mathews Destroys GOP With Evolution Question

Pence brought up a good point about methods of stem cell research that are an alternative to destroying human embryos. Although it is still in its infancy (pun totally intended) and coming up to speed on that would set all sciences that can benefit from stem cell research back a couple of years.

Conservation of angular momentum?
Once they're up to speed it's not that hard to keep spinning.

Not necessarily conservation of angular momentum, more Newton's law of inertia which can be applied to angular momentum. But the second part is correct.

Same thing, different words; way to be an uber nerd.

Can We Make A Star On Earth? - Presented by Prof Brian Cox

I do like the light they throw on the process for fusion. There are ALOT of answers to physics at the extremes: temperatures(hot/cold), pressure, quantum mechanical "tricks", speeds, etc...

There is still alot of work to be done! That is what keeps me going, is that singular hope. These are things iconic physicists and sci-fi writers have given us: ie, Carl Sagan.

I like the Gnarls Barkley "Reckoner" cover at the start.

Always probe the extremes; that is where we can see the Universe and it's "rules" fundamentally tested because everything involved is beholden to "physical" controls that even the Universe can't break. It helps our understanding immensely. A good site to keep up to speed is Physorg.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
One simple law. If it was actually followed, how better a place would the world be?

what if you are a sadist masochist? that law isn't a very good one. how about:

"Treat others as human beings. All human beings have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by the very nature of being human."

Vanishing Point: Kowalski reaches complete freedom

schmawy says...

I love this movie. Here's the trivia section from IMDB:

* Charlotte Rampling had a role as a hitchhiker whom Kowalski met while en route, but her scenes were deleted before the US release. The scenes were re-inserted for the UK release. The DVD release includes both the US and UK versions.

* The car featured in the film is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, with a 440 cubic-inch V-8, and not a 426 Hemi V-8 (as is often believed). Five white Challengers loaned from the Chrysler Corporation were used during the filming.

* The Challenger had Colorado plates: OA-5599

* There were actually four 440 Challenger R/Ts and one 383 Challenger R/T, which was an automatic with green interior. This one was used for some exterior shots and it pulled the 1967 Camaro up to speed so the Camaro could hit the bulldozers. As confirmed by property master Dennis J. Parrish, all of the cars were NOT originally white. They were just painted white for the film. During the scene where Kowalski has a flat tire, you can see green paint in the dents.

* Cameo: [David Gates] The singer/songwriter (of Bread fame) played the piano during the rousing revival in the desert with the J. Hovah singers.

* The city names on the California Highway Patrol tracking board (where Kowalski never made it) were Stockton, Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco.

* Director Richard C. Sarafian's original choice for the role of Kowalski was Gene Hackman, but the studio, 20th Century Fox, insisted on using Barry Newman if the movie was going to be made.

* The color white was chosen for the car simply so the car would stand out against the background scenery in the movie. White was not symbolic in any way. The director says this in the DVD commentary.

* A 1967 Camaro shell (no engine) loaded with explosives was used for the final crash. You can see the "Camaro" fender nameplate upside-down in the lower left corner of the screen after the crash.

The McCain-Palin Mob

spoco2 says...

NetRunner: EXACTLY.

There are always ill informed idiots on boths sides of any election... Now let's talk about the voters... ha ha! Badoom tish... no seriously.

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiment. A very small percentage of the voting public are fully up to speed on both sides of the debate, on all issues, on everything each candidate has said.

BUT

The McCain/Palin CAMPAIGN is spreading this stuff, THEY are saying 'is he qualified', 'what do you know about his experience'. When the campaign is using these lines as part of their campaign and speeches, you just need to see if people are swallowing the bs whole without questioning it.

I'm not sure what parts of Obama's campaign you could do the same with really? Any suggestions? McCain is playing a much dirtier, much nastier campaign based on bs, so if the supporters are eating it up, you have to show them they're eating crap.
