The country had white only policies in a time when the only people who held significant wealth or power were all white people.

We live in a completely different era. The circumstances are different. The country and the people in it think in a completely different manner.

You can't legislate the way people feel so why force a racist asshole to serve the demographics which she or he doesn't approve of [for whatever ignornant reason they have]

Would You Longde support a company if you could NOT eat lunch with your: Gay, Black, Norwegian, Blind, Tourettes, Pregnant, Pastafarian friends there?

Alternately, would you consider it a morally correct thing to support a company who parades around in a multicultural facade. But in actuality is internally racist, prejudice, bigoted?

Oh, and before you say the majority of that 1/3 are Muslim consider that the 2001 census shows that only 2.7% of the UK is Muslim. Somewhat less than the 15.5% who identify as "no religion", but I don't see anybody expecting them to "take over Europe". So ok, 40%>33%, but its hardly the case that Islam is climbin in our windows and snatchin our welfares up. Its much the same story in the rest of Europe. Edumacate yourself thx.

The problem is so many of them are not looking for acceptance they're looking for people to accept Islam as true. Don't say anything bad about Islam or else, don't depict Muhammad or else. They're trying to force people to follow their religion by playing the part of the persecuted.
The same is true for all the crazy Christians over here, they're not looking for people to accept that they're Christian, they want people to accept Christianity as true. That's why they try to force Noah's flood to be taught in science class, or want prayer at public events.
It'd be like if gays said that in order for them to be accepted everyone had to take a dick in the butt. If you want to know what someone really wants and why, look at how they're trying to get it.

This girl is way off about the law and its consequences. First its not like anyone in Ireland got a say in this, second its not like anyone was ever arrested or will be. This has less to do with religions power in Ireland (it has f all these days post child raping) and more to do with political correctness, multiculturalism and the danish mohammed cartoons.

Blasphemy laws were always on the Irish lawbooks going way back, since it was an offense under the 1937 constitution to be blasphemous towards christianity they had to update that for multicultural 21st century ireland. For the most incompetent, corrupt and clueless government in Irish history, the cheapest, easiest and most half assed way of doing it quickly was to pass legislation rather than having a referendum to update the constitution and thereby have a public debate which would have been universally against the blasphemy measure, even the Christian churches.

Anyway, lots of people are doing their best to be charged with blasphemy but so far no winners. Ireland has a lot of unenforced or rarely enforced laws on its books, this is just one that invites ridicule from all over the world and deservedly so.

All quite depressing really.
