So Battlestar Galactica is Over. Thoughts? (Scifi Talk Post)
I enjoyed BSG overall, but the idea of everyone in the fleet suddenly saying screw technology, lets destroy the fleet and get back to a short back breaking life of prehistoric subsistence agriculture in isolated homesteads dotted around a wilderness planet, struck me as laughable, only I wasnt laughing.

Messy? I have the feeling this'll get downright dirty. I'll be readying my incinerator for this one, thank you very much.

Once Upon a Time in the West, opening scene
Great movie. Great opening scene. Dir. Sergio Leone
Another great clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08Az1xP2jDY
I did not post it in the sift queue because it should be considered as part of the whole. In this scene, an entire homesteading family is wiped out on the day the (widowed) father is due to meet and marry his mail-order bride. Henry Fonda as Frank, the truly evil sadistic bad-guy, is stunning. I believe that he has been horribly miscast for most of his career, as a wholesome-type. He's a much better bastard.
