Voltes V: Legacy: The world is under attack | MEGA TRAILER

cloudballoon says...

FYI: The "5 vehicles combine into a giant robot" concept was a very popular cartoon concept in Japanese animes WELL BEFORE Voltron. The later ones got even more than 5 members, went up to 15 and was the most outrageous of the concept (adapted into the latter Vechicle Team Voltron in Western media) iirc .

Voltes V was first aired in '77. While the original Lions Voltron came out years LATER in the mid-'80s. So can't claim plagiarism.

This is properly licensed (by TOEI Japan) trailer made by a Philippines studio, so it's legitimate and not fan-made.

"Voltes V" ws the immediate followup of "Combattler V"

I grew up with these cartoons in their original Japanese version but dubbed into Cantonese while I was in Hong Kong.

This is pure plagiarism of Voltron.

Why? The constitution doesn't forbid it, and doesn't list the number of seats. Guaranteed if Trump/Republicans had considered it, it would already have been tried.

It could, Republicans threaten civil war every time it looks like they won't get their way on anything these days. Using their own politics of "because we can" would certainly enrage them....good thing they're mostly pussies, afraid of a deer, and obese. I think they'll shit themselves if confronted with an armed enemy....like militia boy did. The difference being in war, the dems shoot back. Side note, who is more patriotic, the one's using the exact same politics they've endured from Republicans, or the one's who threaten to destroy the union and nation (too dumb to realize China and Russia would make us a proxy war then come in to collect the pieces).

All for gladiator games....or giant robot wars....or death races. Especially if the representatives have to fight personally.

It would be incredibly likely that any attempt to add new seats to the Supreme Court would be found unconstitutional.

However, it wouldn't be the first time we have had more or fewer judges. This isn't something new as opposing political entities have done their best to stack the court, one way or the other, from the very beginning.

If it happens, it happens. Although I suspect it might lead to another civil war if it is obnoxious enough. Maybe we can end up in Districts this time, with some sort of gladiatorial display to keep the masses calm?

It looks like it meets my requirements. Giant robots fighting other giant robots and monsters in a city in daylight. The rest looks pretty weak, but I'm up to watch the Giant Fighting Robots Special Effects show.

What is the Superman of Robots doing in this film? Is he in the books?

AeroMechanical says...

I hope it's about the robots fighting each other rather than the monsters. Or maybe the monsters are there too, whatever, but I want to see the robots fight each other.

Also, during daylight this time please. So, to recap, giant robots, fighting each other so as I can see them properly while they do it, and I'll buy a ticket.

Avatar Style Mech

SFOGuy says...

Yup; here is the Live Science take---in brief--it's a conceptual artist's thing (Vitaly Bulgarov) who has faked a website and even the Korea development company...

"New video clips purporting to show a 13-foot-tall (4 meters) humanoid robot piloted by a person in its torso look like something straight out of "Avatar" or "Transformers," but a Live Science investigation has revealed reasons to believe some skepticism might be in order.

The robot clips have been picked up by a variety of online news and technology outlets, including Kotaku and Wired UK. But the South Korean company that is supposedly developing the robot has virtually no online presence and was unfamiliar to robotics researchers contacted by Live Science.

Furthermore, the only source for the videos or any information about them is the Facebook and Instagram pages of a designer whose website mentions a conceptual art project about a "fictional robotics corporation that develops its products in a not-so-distant future."

The designer, Vitaly Bulgarov, told Live Science that the robot is real. However, he declined to share the names of scientists or engineers working on the project, and messages to the purported CEO of the company went unreturned. [Gallery: See Images of the Giant Humanoid Robot]

Mystery business

According to Bulgarov's Facebook page, the videos were taken in South Korea at a company called Korea Future Technology. Almost all references to this company online appear to be associated with Bulgarov's posts and the subsequent news pieces on the robot. Bulgarov said the company has been operating for several years."

""Robots are messy business," said Christian Hubicki, a postdoctoral robotics researcher at Georgia Tech who worked on the DURUS robot. "They get torn apart and put back together over and over, and transmission grease gets all over the place. Even the nice white floor is beautifully unscuffed [in these videos]. Never once during likely hundreds of hours of debugging the giant robot did it kick in a way that scratched it up?"

The people around the robot also appear to be too close for safety and are not following the standard practice of wearing safety goggles, Hubicki said.

Bulgarov said the company's CEO required that the lab be clean, and that the videos had been brightened in postproduction. Fearing said robotics labs in Asia can be relatively neat.

However, there's another problem: Hubicki told Live Science that the robot's leg joints look unusually smooth given the force that the step of a 1.5-ton robot would exert on the motors. [5 Reasons to Fear Robots]"

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny - Trailer 2

newtboy says...

I don't understand.
When you say you never cared for "these films", what do you mean? You could not be referring to just the two crouching tiger hidden dragon films, because you haven't seen the second one, it's not out yet. Are you referring to Chinese films made for American audiences in general, or something else?
If you mean Crouching Tiger specifically, I'll disagree with that opinion. I thought Crouching Tiger #1 was great, and I also quite enjoyed House of Flying Daggers, which was a bit similar to me.

That said, my first choice of Chinese fantasy action films (that I've seen) would be Holy Weapon aka Hopy Weapon aka Holy Shit! Now that was some good insanity Kung Fu, and included a flying all virgin Kung Fu version of 'crippletron' (a bit like Voltron, but instead of a giant robot made of spaceships or other smaller robots, it's a giant person made out of regular people) and a human Cuisinart named Super Sword. Now THAT was some insane awesomeness.

Still! Yay sequels?
