Choggie rhymes with... (User Poll by xxovercastxx)

choggie says...

Some from Edward Gorey-

To his club-footed child said Lord Stipple,
As he poured his post-prandial tipple:
"Your mother's behaviour
Gave pain to Our Saviour
And that's why He made you a cripple."

An incautious woman called Venn
Was seen with the wrong sort of men;
She vanished one day
But the folloing May
Her legs were retrieved from a fen.

and this one should evoke all manner of visceral response in some, my personal favorite:

A headstrong young lady of Ealing
Threw her two-year-old child at the ceiling;
When quizzed why she did
She replied: "To get rid
Of a strange overpowering feeling."

choggie says...

Each night father fills me with dread
When he sits on the foot of my bed;
I don't mind that he speaks
In gibbers and squeaks
But for seventeen years he's been dead.

An incautious woman called Venn
Was seen with the wrong sort of men;
She vanished one day
But the folloing May
Her legs were retrieved from a fen.

I like this kid's reading. Yes, it's flat and rushed, but that's what real kids sound like when they read aloud. It makes me happy to know that a little kid 'gets' Edward Gorey, and cares to take the initiative and make this viddy. My hat is off to you little dude.

Hooray for Edward Gorey. When I was a kid I read John Bellairs novels illustrated by Edward Gorey, and still love his art. Those novels used to scare the stuffing out of me, and as it turns out they have a lot of Lovecraftian horrors in them- no wonder I got so scared.
