Donald and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad ...

Drachen_Jager says...

You're extremely disingenuous, you drift into logical fallacies regularly (and apparently by accident). If you're not going to address the meat of the issue honestly, there's just no point.

Nobody ever said they were "forced" this is called the "straw man" fallacy.

American business took advantage of their labor, YOU took advantage of their labor, now that you're done, you just want to throw them away.

I do agree on one point though, there is no further point in debating with you.

That is pretty much the sticking point we will disagree upon. I do not believe they were forced to come, they came to fill a vacuum and because they were looking for a place they saw as a better country to live in. I do not and will not support amnesty for those currently here illegally. They must be returned to their country of origin and apply to live here as per the laws of our country.

Businesses that have profited off the equivalent of sharecropper labor should be punished legally, but the mere removal of their illegal work force will hit them where it hurts, in the pocketbook. I have no sympathy at all for businesses that have exploited illegal labor to run other businesses into the ground, then increased their own profits afterwards.

I do understand your points, but we really are at an impasse on our feelings regarding the issue.

If Christopher Walken had done the voice for Darth Vader

poolcleaner says...

He drifts in and out of vocal character and his facial expressions need serious work, but damn funny jokes! I thoroughly enjoyed Walken Vader breaking the fourth wall on the Han/Greedo controversy. If he analyzed each syllable and practiced some more, I bet he could be a master of the Walken side of the Force.

FedEx Driver drifting a Jackknifed Truck like a boss

bitterbug says...

Never did a stint as a commercial driver, but passed all the courses and went through down to the Michigan Decision Driving training grounds and did runs in trucks with jacknife scenarios, etc.

He's not drifting there. His trailer brakes are locked up. And because of inertia and ice his trailer is trying to pass his cab.

The goal is to maintain control but keep as low a speed as possible, so you give power to the cab to pull the trailer back into line in a normal situation. In this case he doesn't want to accelerate because there's no safe ground to regain control on, so he's going to aim for keeping the cab going at equal to or just slightly faster than the trailer.

As soon as he hits a clear patch of pavement or level ground then a little bit of acceleration from the cab pulls the trailer back in line behind the cab, drop the acceleration as the drag from the trailer slows you down, etc.

A good reason to always wait before pulling back in after passing a truck on the highway. In an emergency their maneuvers can take long distances when fully loaded. If something goes wrong during your passing maneuver your want to be as far out of their way as possible.

Evening doll! Having studied film and being in the biz for as long as I have, I have become pretty jaded, and was convinced that I have seen it all. There just doesn't seem like there is any original thought left, Hollywood appears to have given up, and watching endless "student films" kinda proved that assumption.

However, every now and then a short comes along that renders me speechless, snatches the breath from my lungs, and makes me stare in wonderment at the screen. Watching a Horror Film as a Young Boy is one, and I keep finding my mind drifting back to it, playing it over and over in my head.

This is why I dig the Sift so much, and really feel connected to it and some of the amazing people here. This does more for my soul than any meeting or therapy session ever could.

P.S.Holy balls, you have 0 videos in your Personnel Que...I think I will just start referring to you as King, having @bareboards2 already nominated you to join our shared fantasy. It really does seem to be fitting!!

Massive Police Chase Against Stunt Motorcycles

newtboy says...

Watch some 'formula drift'. They're powerful enough that they don't need to use the front brakes to spin the tires, even at speed. It's possible the same thing applies to the bike, that it's just overpowering the rear wheel and not using the brake, but since he doesn't accelerate out of sight, he probably is braking.

Thanks. I've not seen that done in a car at that speed, so I was really uncertain.
