POPTONE - GO
I had the cassette of “Pop” and gave it to my friend when I stumbled upon the cd “Night Music”. Here is a great interview with Daniel Ash that was recently released https://www.mixcloud.com/FrenchSpurs1/retropopic-123-daniel-ash-the-whole-musical-story-from-bauhaus-to-poptone/
I think I played "Tones on Tail" on cassette till the tape broke - great album.

There's a Secret Vehicle on the Millennium Falcon!
I think the Millennium Falcon's design was more about aesthetics than practicality, it was designed as the ship that didn't look like much but had it where it counts. IIRC, when they were designing the Star Wars universe they wanted to have a very dirty and used feel to it, so we get lots of open panels and exposed systems everywhere, the future is Bauhaus then I guess.

Obscure elitists are the worst elitists. Let him listen to his Urdu Bauhaus shoegazer trip hop shit; we have Disco Duck!
And you can tell him I said that.
In reply to this comment by swampgirl:
I think you're right. I initially invited Farhad, but his bratty ass had to go off on my bourbon AND my age... obscure hypocrite
In reply to this comment by kronosposeidon:
Ooh, I've been invited to a collective! How cool is that? I say that we don't let anyone in the '70s collective unless they were at least born in the '70s or earlier. For once in my life I want to legally discriminate.
America's First Jet Flight, October 1942
True. I've always been amazed with the "out of the box" concepts that the Germans came up with let alone actually took all the way to fruition. Thats not to say that just because something doesn't look similar to what's already being built and used it wouldn't work, but they sure had some pretty amazing and outlandish concepts. No surprise the Bauhaus originated in Germany.
What you could do with 1.6 trillion dollars (Waronterror Talk Post)
That list of possible avenues, is as dead-end as any other-wtf would be gained, for example , by sending everyone in NYC to private university??? How about everyone in Nebraska....
I'd create a new university, patterned after the vision of the Bauhaus, Bucky Fuller's, future of civ., etc. Have departments dedicated to the research of Tesla, Wilhelm Reich.
Better yet, how about a back to basics approach: Use the money to teach people in so-called first world countries, (if there even exists such a definition) how to eat properly. Diet alone, would supplant the necessity for any more goddamn doctors-Ounce a prevention, is worth a pound of cellulite or love handle, and heart disease would disappear, nearly overnight.
DDT, saved more African lives than anything to date, innit???
Die Dreigroschenoper (1962)
"Lotte Lenya certainly wasn't dressed like this!"....ah but she has, she has.....Weill and Brecht ran from the Nazis, they were there for the Bauhaus days and that bit of escape from structure....seen pics of Lenya in some pretty risque costumes
Don't hate me when this gets stuck in your head
Peter Cetera is wearing a Bauhaus t-shirt. A Bauhaus t-shirt. This is exquisitely painful.
