Tel Aviv - Incredible Amateur Audio/Video Mashup
You are completely entitled to your opinion on this track.. not that fond of it myself, tbh.... but pretty much everything else you've said is simply untrue.
First up, digital instruments are still instruments. Some of them require great skill to play in real time (see Beardyman for example).
Some are authoring tools that aren't used for performance. So what? In the past, we called those kinds of tools sheet music, where a composer could write some music and have others perform it.
Second, it's not a zero-sum game. Just because some people use a sampler doesn't take away from people playing guitar.
Finally, there are literally millions of musicians still playing instruments (by which I'm assuming you mean traditional instruments like strings, percussion, wind, etc). With the web as a distribution and learning tool, it has never been easier to learn, write and record music. So if you want to listen to rock or classical or blues or jazz or soul or funk or metal or folk or any combination thereof, it's out there. Go look for it.
Sure..., it's got a beat, but no soul.
This sort of thing, although creative - which is great, that is killing music today. Musicians no longer play instruments, or even know how. It's too perfect as it strips out any human element to lets us relate to it. Sad for the future of music, if this is what we have to look forward to...
--I know this is just my opinion, but it's mine.

Penn&Teller Bullshit: Season 7 - Video Games
obligatory karaidl quote:
"I despise Manhunt for the same reason people hate Guitar Hero - why can't these idiots learn to kill REAL people??"
Small House Seems Spacious
I don't think there's any reason to try that with the Yaris, it's quite big enough already. We managed to fit in 4 people, 4 guitars, 1 synthesizer and a stand for it, a drum set excluding the bass, a 12-pack of beer and still we're comfortable enough to drive around 62 miles to a gig. Couldn't fit the guitar cabs and amps though. =)

I despise Manhunt for the same reason people hate Guitar Hero - why can't these idiots learn to kill REAL people?? Me, I'm too busy to play Manhunt, what with all the killing I've been doing.

Dude Solos On Guitar Hero - Highest Level
"Why does everyone say you should just learn to play a real guitar? Its just for fun. I don't remember anyone telling me I should just learn how to dance while playing Dance Dance Revolution..."
I'll bet they were thinking it though. I kid, I kid!
Seriously, though, how can people not get the appeal of this? People play Guitar Hero for the same reason people play flight sims: because it would be prohibitively expensive and require an inordinate amount of time and effort to go out and do the real thing. Guitar Hero lets you fake being a "rock star" without investing the blood, sweat, and tears it would take to become a famous rock musician. What's not to understand?
7 year old playing guitar hero at best buy
people r so fucking stupid. rock on ? what a retard. i find it funny how people bum guitar hero however hate games like dance dance. people are so blinded by the context of a game, playing guitar hero is hardly impressive as anyone who spends the time on it can learn how to do it and after all that effort there is no place for you to develop a style ore individual method of playing the game. its simply a case of press the button that matches the one on the screen.
I do still think its an excellent game. i just hate peoples inconsistent attitudes towards things.
