Sarah Palin Doesn't Get It

alien_concept says...

I think someone is going to make an assassination attempt on her one of these days. One of her security staff would "accidentally" misjudge a situation and hopefully someone with a 12 gauge will POW her teeth into the back of her head. She'd be so worth it!

What about the people's pets? My dog would've lost his shit. I cover his ears whenever fire trucks/ambulances/cop cars speed by. I can only imagine what this would do to him. And to me, trying to deal with it all. I'd probably grab my 12 gauge and shoot out the speakers, then plead temporary insanity, genuinely.

Holy Crap! A Full Auto 12 Gauge Shotgun With Magazine!

Next step: Someone claiming it's his 2nd amendment right to own one at home. It's clearly a hunting / self-defense weapon, isn't it?

I couldn't think of a better way to defend myself than with one of these.

If only I had a gun

lucid31337 says...

Personally, I use a 12 gauge shotgun for home defense. It was cheap, but good construction, easy to fire and very clearly tells intruders whats coming for them. My first warning for intruders is yelling "Who's there?" My 2nd is chambering a shell. That is a truly universal sound in this day in age.

Flare Gun Fail

Morganth says...

Um...the sky is a hard target to miss so a flare gun doesn't exactly have a bored barrel. It typically uses a 12-gauge round.

Also, since they're designed to be seen from miles away and burn at 1700+ degrees Fahrenheit this guy is extremely lucky. A flare gun can easily be lethal.

Mans Pants Fail As He Fires Shotgun!

How Not To Shoot A Gun

MarineGunrock says...

>> ^Xax:
I figured many/most of the people just didn't know how to hold a gun/rifle, but the kickback in some of those clips looked especially powerful. That last clip... yikes.

The kick only looks bad because of improper handling. Very few weapons have a kick that is difficult to control (for some people - if you know what you're doing it's not a problem) - mainly a 12 gauge shotgun or something like a 30-.06. While it'll make for a sore shoulder, it's easily controlled if you just fire it properly. The girl in that last clip was just doing it as wrong as she could.

WITHOUT FURTHER ADO, I PRESENT TO YOU, MG'S GUIDE TO WEAPONS SAFETY AND SUCCESSFUL SHOOTING.

Weapons safety rules:
1)Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
2)Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot.
3)Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you intend to fire.
4)Keep your weapon on safe until you are ready to fire.
5)Know your target and what lies beyond. It may be fun to shoot at cans on a fence rail, but there may be someone several hundred meters behind it that you didn't see.

DO:

  • Place the butt of the weapon into your shoulder
  • Maintain a firm grip with both hands on the weapon.
  • With your forward hand, pull the weapon into your shoulder. This makes for a more steady aim.
  • Put your strong foot behind you
  • Lean into the weapon. Your shoulders should be above your forward foot.
    - (when standing) To make for better weapon stability, square your body to the target. i.e.- Don't face your body to it. Your shoulders should be perpendicular to it. This allows you to rest your forward elbow on your chest and provides a platform for stability.
  • Keep a hunched position.

    DON'T:
Be like any moron in this video.

Officer Leroy Pyle on Assault/Military weapons

    choggie says...

Any future bans of weapons in the U.S. will more than likely follow some tragic event perpetrated by a single, damaged individual-
The Brady Bill was fast-tracked, after just such a convenient event.

A more reasonable approach to disarming a nation would be to place prohibitions on the availability of ammunition.

It is a dead certainty, that the media in the U.S., being the uninformed, uneducated, easily manipulated and agenda-oriented bobble-head tools of their owners that they are, will be instrumental in the dis-arming of the Nation, though it will take some catastrophe, natural or engineered to do so....

synchron, in the U.S., an individual may purchase from another individual, any of the guns on the banned list-they can not be marketed through the manufacturer or retailers-
The only 4 guns I will ever need, are all still legal-
    Colt 1911 45
    Marlin 45/70 Guide Gun
12-gauge (take yer pick, several semi-autos worth while)
    and the fun gun
the 1927 A-1 Deluxe Thompson Lightweight (only semi-autos are legal, the fully-auto Thompson is on the banned list)

The only other gun that one would need would be a long-range sniper rifle, and the one that a proficient user could strike the most fear into a would-be assailant that I would have, is this one-SHARPS ARMS MODEL 1874 HARTFORD SPORTING RIFLE-(same calibre as the Marlin...the gun Quigley used)

All for shock and awe and the continued availability of the ammunition used, the shotgun shell, the 45 acp, and the 45/70, may never be banned-and even if they are, they are the only thing worth reloading.

Get tasered from 100 feet away!

    MarineGunrock says...

I think he meant to say "less than lethal."
That's the term applied to all the crowd control tools out there, be it the rubber sting balls or the foam discs for the M203 40mm grenade launcher (fun as hell) or the 12 gauge rubber slugs and bean bags. And of course, the classics go in that category as well: CS gas, tasers, pepper spray (what a joke) and O.C. spray.
NOTE: If you are ever told to do something or be O.C. sprayed, fucking do it. Trust me. I'd rather blow a horse than have that done again. It is quite literally the worst pain you have ever felt. It's akin to being on fire for two hours.

    Wes Craven's "Scream"

    rembar says...

Has anyone else ever imagined a slasher movie where the masked murderer calls, announces his presence menacingly, and then breaks through the glass door just in time to catch two rounds of double-ought buckshot square in the chest from his would-be victim's 12-gauge? Hmmm....

.and the award for realistic gunplay in a motion picture....

    choggie says...

...a rope tied to a stunt man's waist perhaps, makes for a realistic attempt by the filmmakers, to mimic the effect of a shotgun blast at that range....would agree, that through that wall, even with both barrels pulled with slugs, it may not be as dramatic, But.....mr. simian, the FPS of what comes out the end of a 12-gauge boomstick at close range, would lift a person off their feet and then some, at close range, beg to differ-

Also gotta say, that what may have played a subconscious role inspiring this post and the john woo, were the days events at Virginia Tech....my heart goes out to the bereaved,...a tragic sign of the times in which we live....we will probably find out shortly, that the perpetrator was a social outsider, emotionally isolated and lonely, and that had a bat been his weapon of choice once he had made his mind up, that folks would have died as well, guns, their availability and calibre once again, not the culprit....
