The Trouble With The Electoral College [Updated]

YT-FYI: I don't count the 1824 election as the final winner was determined by the house of representatives and thus not *technically* a straight-up Electoral College fail.

From what I was taught, the electoral college was designed for an election just like the one we just had, as a safeguard against a slick snake oil salesman duping the uneducated masses into electing a dangerous and dictatorial candidate. They are supposed to ignore the popular vote if it supports a dangerous candidate....like one that suggests allowing our enemies to have nukes is OK, or that defaulting on our debts will be advantageous somehow. If only they would do their job and actually elect Sanders, my faith in our system would suddenly and surprisingly be restored. Sadly I have no faith whatsoever that they will.
