Patrick 'Speaks' For The First Time

Patrick, a deaf boy in Sub Saharan Africa, has never had a conversation with anyone. He is not alone. There's little chance to learn sign language there, leaving many deaf people isolated and incommunicative. Raymond (a deaf man who just learned sign language himself) is starting what could be the first sign language school in the area , and it's changing lives.

Sadly, the video doesn't bring this out very much, but to me it's clear that the problem (obviously) it not as much with Patrick but more so with the people around him.
Spread knowledge, not religion or fear.

He's still not going to have an easy go of it if no one else (i.e., his family) learns along with him.

Wasn't that his dad sitting behind him in the back? I thought he was learning it too so he could speak with Patrick.

Oh, I didn't notice, but I do hope so. I feel so bad for people like that who really don't have to and shouldn't suffer a mentally tortured life.
