Alfred Korzybski -- The World is NOT An Illusion

“Now this is a very, very important point — to realize that the world is not an illusion, that the world simply happens to be an abstraction. Out of the process, please remember we are interested in humanity. It’s more important for us in our work here to know HOW we know even than WHAT we know. Because whatever we ‘know’ on the silent levels, whatever we say something is…it isn’t.” —Alfred Korzybski

(In my honest yet humble opinion, if you haven't read understood Sir Alfred Korzybski's "Science and Sanity," you aren't totally prepared to really think like an adult in the 21st century.)
Stormsingersays...

I've never read his book(?), but this seems to be well covered by the precept "the map is not the terrain". What's in our heads is clearly NOT physical reality, but merely a model of it.

I thought that was rather obvious when I first heard it in the 5th grade.
