Art of the Saber - One of the best home made duels ever

Art of the Saber - One of the best home made duels ever

Yeah, it doesn't look like they're trying to cut flesh, they're just hitting each others' saber blades. It looks nice for video, tho.
And I like Darth Pillowbiter's magenta light saber. It looks fabulous!

Now, now, don't be a Vader-hater. This is definitely above average work as far as fan-made saber duels go and I like how they tried to hint at a story in the opening monologue. However, I think we all know that the best home-made lightsaber duels belong to Ryan and Dorkman:

I'm glad you're having a great time. That's cool that you got to rap with the lead singer too. Wish I could travel like that and hang out with the beautiful people. Kind of tough to do when you're in prison.

BTW, Farhad is saying goodbye to us all:

I'm sure he'd appreciate a few kind words from a fellow obscure sifter.

Haha, I forgot how funny that video was. Nice.

Yeah, it was pretty cool, I got to see ART-SCHOOL live on Friday, and managed to get to talk to the singer after the show, get a signature for my girlfriend (they're her very favorite band) and a pic with the singer. It was a great show. I was down in Tokyo just for Friday and Saturday to hang out with a friend that's there for a semester, so it was a pretty awesome weekend.

Ahh, in old Edo town, I see. I can't imagine a better conversation to have in one of the world's great cities than one about 2G1C (as those of us in the art biz affectionately call it.)

Tell the Emperor I said hi, and that he still owes me 10,000 yen for that bet. He thought I didn't know how to make balloon animals.

Funny, I was having a great conversation about 2 girls 1 cup on the train in Tokyo yesterday evening with a buddy and his Mexican friend on our way to go drinking.

In reply to this comment by kronosposeidon:
Thanks. I had to come out of retirement to defend my bad name. None of you asshole would talk about 2 girls 1 Cup.

"Sorry, but wtf? They feel they can't afford to be vulnerable, themselves, real? Are you saying that their need to remain attractive forces them to act in a certain way? That's just vanity." [quoting dannym3141]

in my experience, the need to remain SAFE (sometimes emotionally, sometimes physically) forces me to act a certain way at times, closing off my natural openness in meeting people for one thing. gaining weight or losing weight at different times to try to be invisible, body modifications that put people off, not taking care of my appearance at all -- those are some of the options i've exercised to avoid "flattering" attention based solely on my looks. i'm NOT saying i've ever been one of the uber-hot, btw. but i can empathize with them based on my own experiences.

sorry if that was TMI, but that's a lot of what i like at VS: real thought-and-discussion-provoking videos, not *just* cute kittens, though that's great too.

Just read this, it's months old

EVERYONE needs to protect themselves and be careful to be safe. That you think you have more to lose, or more at risk, just reinforces your vanity.

If you want to come back and say "i have a greater risk of being raped than this fat girl" then i'll say sure - but you also have a lower risk of being attacked, a higher chance of being defended if you're attacked, etc. etc.

And if you say "i have a higher risk of being raped than you (you're a girl, i'm a boy, no that isn't a chat-up line!)" Then i'll say fine, true, but you also have less chance of being attacked in pretty much any situation which can lead to an attack. That's huge.

I'm not calling you vain, i don't know you, and you could be speaking "on behalf" of some imaginary hottie. But if a hot person says to me that they are at greater risk of being safe, that is indicative of them being vain and THINKING they have more to lose. "If you get punched in the face you're good to go, but me? Well that's a big loss baby!"

I'm only sending this because you enjoy sift discussion, it's old and past and i'm just sadly bringing it back up.

It happens lol I actually got interested in Japanese as a result of a friend of mine showing me a Japanese rock band (the pillows) several years back, and now I'm majoring in East Asian Studies because the language/culture/food are so fun/interesting/delicious.

Suicide Scene from Rules of Attraction

kronosposeidon says...

This scene made me cringe when I saw it; that's how disturbing it was to me. Just because it's disturbing doesn't make it bad, however. Like KOMMIE said in his description, it's a realistic depiction of a romanticized act. Therefore I know that KOMMIE's intent was neither to glorify this act nor play for the lowest-common-denominator vote. This video about suicide got 21 upvotes, even though it was also disturbing. Sure, it was animated and not graphic like this video, but still it made a powerful point. So does this video.

Art isn't always comfortable or easy. Sometimes it's meant to shock you, and through this jarring sensation it can give you a whole new perspective on something that you probably do your best to avoid thinking about. So please don't downvote this just because you find it disturbing. To me that's no better than turning the TV off when you see graphic images of war or famine. Not seeing it doesn't make the problem go away.

PS: KOMMIE, maybe adding a lengthier explanation as to why you queued this video rather than telling your detractors to shove their downvotes up their asses might help a wee bit. I'd like to see this video succeed too.

I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart.

For the sake of Dag I won't do anything to you while he's alive.

But once he's gone I'm going to make sure all your videos sleep with the fishes. In the Dead Pool.

I hope you know I was just joking around.
