Difference in Education Among Voters (Blog Entry by JiggaJonson)

enoch says...

wow,
now THATS a response nordlichreiter!
i agree with the ignorance but not so much with the greed, considering the regional per capita income.
think about it:
education is not only information and knowledge but the tools to USE them.somebody not well versed in science may be more prone to believe a charlatans claims on..say..climate change or the world ending in 2012.anybody with a rudimentary high school knowledge would dismiss those claims for the BS they are.
same goes for history and the ability to contextualize a current situation using knowledge from that past.someone with little or no historical knowledge may believe that America was founded on christian principles,or that the federal reserve was a government bank and always had been one.
someone who has taken literature, the humanities or logic has a healthy skepticism while remaining open-minded.those that do not have the benefit of those courses bases much of their world view dynamic on assumption, presumption giving credibility and authority to those who may not deserve it.this can lead to an incredibly stubborn bias due to a knee-jerk revulsion of "elitist intellects" a dynamic carefully crafted by those whose powers they wish to remain solvent.
while i am always surprised how so many people will vote against their own interests,i really shouldnt be,they do not realize that is what they are doing.
i dont think i can really add any more, nord did a fine job by himself.
thats my 2c anyways.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Coming To PS3 (Videogames Talk Post)

AnimalsForCrackers says...

A straight up port (vastly compressed obviously or written on two cartridges, probably both) of FFVII on the DS would be fantastic, if not a little demanding. FFVI on the DS is pretty damn well recieved, don't know how well that translates into sales but it's the best JRPG on the DS at the moment imo, from someone who never played the SNES version. Not a big fan of The World Ends With You, the other heavy hitter last year from Square. Not to mention the more recent faithful Chronotrigger port which probably saw mediocre sales due to the fact that it's essentially the same game we all played before and the high price tag.

Seems like a remake of FFVII would either be a huge success or flop completely (at least in the US) in this current gaming climate. Lord knows how overhyped it would be, regardless of it's relative quality.

TV Show Spins Next American Civil War?

It could also have been pulled because:

1. The writing stank ("we've just had a nuclear apocalypse what should we do?" "celebrate halloween! Wheeeee!").
2. The setting was created by people who'd never been out of New York or L.A. (what part of Kansas lets you see the Rocky Mountains? It must be that part that extends West of Denver. And blowing up "the only bridge into town" apparently stops humvees because driving one of them through a corn field to get to town is just undignified).
3. The first two episodes go on and on about radiation, yet they "harvest" a crop that should be lethal.
4. They make no effort to prepare for winter, which should have done us all a favor and frozen the lot of them.
5. When the world ends, you don't care about defending the town, finding resources, etc. Oh, no. You go down to the magic bar of neverending booze and talk about who's cheating on who.

It was the apocalypse by way of the Hallmark channel.

Zero Punctuation - The World Ends with You

STOP FUCKING SAYING JRPG. Why the fuck does there have to be a distinction there? I fucking hate "gamers".

Because the fanbase for JRPGs is very different from the fanbase for RPGs -- aside from a few core elements, the genres go about creating an "RPG" in very different ways.

Because there is a distinction. It's like an RPG is like an FPS, and a JRPG is like an FPS + suckage, wonky hair and teenage angst.

Broken Embed, and it wasn't funny this time around. Just because its Zero Punctuation doesn't mean we need to see it.

LMFAHS at the bucket of wallpaper paste. And the skeet shooting. Nice. HA HA - fluff. This earns a deliciously NSFW playlisting so easily.

Yeah, it wasn't as hilarious as some outings, but I blame not being as involved with the *Asian gaming thing. Plus maybe he's relaxing after just turning 25.
