Red Neck trucker says NO to this blonde trying to merge...

Sagemind says...

The truck saw the car.
The truck had time to move left. He clearly saw the car.
The truck never even tried to hit his breaks or slow down.
The truck hit the car either on purpose, or undue care and attention.
The truck driver was distracted on his phone, and never missed a beat in his conversation.

The car was a full car length ahead of the truck when it started to merge - If I could see the car signaling, he could have seen the car signaling. There was room.

We all know that trucks have a longer stopping time. But a single tap on the break instead of holding his foot on the accelerator would have avoided the collision.
And no, the traffic wasn't slowing down ahead - they were all passing and keeping what looks like a steady pace.
If the truck thought he needed to warn the car, he could have used his horn, but he was too busy on his phone.

WTF Japan - Pu Li Ru La

SDGundamX says...

The story (roughly translated from http://bgame.web.fc2.com/pulirula/pulirula.html):

This is the mysterious country of Radish Land. In each village, guards watch over the Screws of Time, which keep time flowing smoothly. However, one day an evil person appeared who sought to capture time by stealing the Screws of Time. One by one he attacked the villages and stole the screws, stopping time in the villages he took them from. If unstopped, time will stop completely across the land! But Zak and Mel, using magic wands invented by their grandfather, embark on a quest to save Radish Land.

The Matrix - Twilight Zone 1985

>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:

I remember an 80s Twilight Zone episode where there was a necklace that would allow you to stop and start time, and it ended with the main character stopping time a few seconds before a nuclear attack. Freaky.

Had a huge effect on me when I saw it as a kid. Myself and my brother still talk about it today.

What is the best Super power? (it's not what you think...)

Ghostly says...

By their rules time stopping is not so great.

Time Stop:
If you keep stopping time for everything besides yourself, then you will essentially age faster relative to everyone else. Your biggest mistake would be to regularly use it for long distance psuedo-teleportation...

Full Time Manipulation:
Even full time manipulation may not be considered so great because even if you could selectively turn back time on your body to reverse aging, you wouldn't be able to do it on your brain unless you want to lose any memories/experiences recorded there.

Smugglarn says...

Wouldn't flight without an engine, except jumping and wings, have to be manipulation of gravity?

I figure that is the way Superman flies. Hes not jumping or gliding, but he is manipulating gravity (also, he is a machine, but let's not get into that now)

Anyway - since gravity manipulation would render you pretty much invulnerable, and give you the ability to travel great distances and possibly the only way to "stop time" - I would go with that.

MaxWilder says...

For the record, I've always thought time manipulation would be the best superpower. So take that, title!

But even if I could only have the power to stop time rather than go forward and back, it would still beat everything else for sheer usefulness in real life.

Time Travel - The Casimir Effect

9058 says...

Am I the only one who thinks this is one of those "things you wish you could disinvent". I mean think how dangerous this could be. Also time travel to my understanding is not really possible in terms of going into the past. It really just stops time or freezes you so that time goes by and you are in the future. Now this worm hole trick he speaks of could work but we could only go back in time to the point it was made, not before.

I'd been trying to figure this out, and did, thought I'd share (Sift Talk Post)

bl968 says...

This should only be really used if you can create a stop time as well as a start time imho. Without it you should just present the whole video. What you find interesting others might not and they might be interested in a part you would have just passed on by.
