Although, if I may completely contradict myself and derail this thread - supposedly 65% of France has the mind-altering parasite toxoplasmosis from eating steak tartar, while in the US it's only 30-35%. So maybe they are them

Parasites are scary things. How about Toxoplasmosis? It wraps around mice brains, to make them feel fearless of cats, because the beasties need the mice to be eaten by the cat to spread.
I read somewhere that something like half the people in France are infected with this bug from eating steak tartar (americain).
