That's exactly what I've done. I think she broke "the rules" when she requested it be removed, so I mock her by saying it again (or something similar). And if I want to protest that the easiest way is to mock it. (Hell, I nearly pulled the infamous chuggo video out of sift talk again too, but I can understand your problems with advertisers and didn't want to be too much of a pain to you guys.)

If the mail you got had been to me (and it was my post), I may or may not have removed the info, because if she's getting really hurt and I don't really care, then there's no reason for it to be there. I can honestly not see how she would be so hurt over that though. This is turning into Sierra Noble-gate, I think.

My comment was really intended for you, calvados and her; and if you've all seen it, I don't really see the use in having it anymore. If you really feel it hurts her and you (and the sift) you have my blessing to remove it, and I won't bitch about it (any more).

One malady of Internet life I feel is that people are very quick to take action for perceived "rights" issues- but seldom consider the individual human beings that their actions affect. It's a disassocation- happens in cars because we can't readily see the people inside and consider the car to be a beast at least in some portion of our brains. We do and say things that we would never do or say to a person's face.

You've taken the easy, automatic action- flipping off a car that you think has broken the road rules. I don't expect you to see it this way, because I'm sure you're feeling fairly defensive at this point. But wow, I really do wish people were more empathetic saw the world less in shades of black and white.

There's plenty of blame to go around on Katrina. The Army Corps of Engineers had people who knew the levies were bad for years and years. This is something that goes much further back than Bush. The ACoE wanted to conduct extensive building projects on the levees, floodgates, and all kinds of stuff as far back as 1997.

But they weren't allowed to do anything. Why not? A combination of local and national politics. In the 1990s, Clinton's administration gave strong weight to environmentalist lobby groups like the Sierra Club, Audobon society, and American Rivers. These organization strongly opposed any and all levee repairs or upgrades because they were concerned about the Sockeye salmon, the wetlands, and the standard array of enviro-nut agendas. They sued, stonewalled, and delayed levee repairs well into the 2000s. Then Katrina hit. Boom. Levees broke.

Bush had no power to just roll in and repair the levees by fiat. Various lobbies both national and local (New Orleans unions) would not allow the ACoE to so much as spackle a levee wall. If Bush had just gone in anyway then the environut lobbies and other liberal activist groups would have screamed bloody murder like they do every time someone wants to drill in ANWR. Federal funds were given to New Orleans year after year specifically for the purpose of the city fixing the levies. But year after year the New Orleans political system (run by Democrats) frittered the money away and nothing got done.

Then - surprise surprise - the levies broke and then everyone is like "Wah wah wah - Bush didn't do enough..." Whatever. The stage was set for that particular mess long before Bush so much as printed his first campaign sign.

Great post, I'd quality but it never works for me.
I cant really drink the mass produced beers like Heineken, Budweiser etc. cos they just make me so sick the next day. So I have to try the more obscure items to find what my gut enjoys.
My current favourites are probably not very exotic to yourselves in the USA but a local store (off license) just started stocking Sierra Nevada pale ale and a number of other varieties by the same brewery which I'm enjoying a lot as I used to brew ales myself.

I've also been getting into some organic Honey beers from microbreweries in the UK. I visited a Lowenbrau keller in Sydney which only sold imported German beers and they had some killer honey beers (meads?).

I also think highly of the Spanish lager "Mahou" which is huge in Spain but I cant find it in Ireland yet.

The scary part of this is not what he says; it's that he's the respectable and eloquent face of the BNP. In UK nationalist terms, he's the intellectual elite. I honestly knew a BNP supporter that went out one night with a couple of his 'Nationalist' friends for a few beers, and woke up to find they'd tattooed a swastika onto his arm for a joke. If anybody is so myopic as to think that, because blacks in America have a sense of unity, that this extends to all blacks, they should really travel a little. Just see how much black unity you'll find in Congo, in Kenya or in Sierra Leone. Anywhere you go, you'll find that minority groups identify well with each other. It's true of Americans living in Europe, of Irish living in Australia, and of Jews living in New York. It's human nature. Griff-tard seems to think that, because there's no huge sense of unity and fraternity in the all-white, thick-as-pigshit ghetto of mediocrity that he inhabits, that this means that white English people have some loftier sense of identity that extends beyond race.
