Brittany Maynard - Death with Dignity

When all information regarding this topic needs to be filtered through "peer reviewed scientific studies" invariably funded by mega corporations who have nothing to gain from discovering whole plant based cures, your opinions will be more than a little biased.

Here's a few accounts:

"Ten months ago girlfriend was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. Immediately switch to all organics/non GMOS and started taking the oil. Half way into the treatment test results showed the lesion had shrunk half its size and was now precancerous. Last week new tests showed she is not only CANCER FREE but PREGNANT which they said may never happen. Rick Simpson I really owe you, brother. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Jason
“I have a good friend Scott with cerebral palsy. About 6yrs ago he was in and out of hospital, they just throw in meds at him. Finally his mom said there's got to be another way. After he went from 200 pounds to 110 we thought we were gonna lose him until he started consuming cannabis. After six months he was back to normal and put all the weight back on and takes half the meds. He has outlived 3 times over what doctors said and they say he's just lucky. I have other thought.” Shane
“This is my brother who the dr said he had 2 months with inoperable liver cancer. That was a year ago. His tumor has shrunk to 1/4 size. His tumor markers went from 5667 to 94. He is living proof. He still runs his own business. Both Northwestern in Chicago and Mayo clinic in Rochester Minnesota gave him that diagnosis. He consumes the oil.” Holley
“Thank God we found Rick’s site when we did..... I started the oil 4 months ago and the spot where my tumor was removed is closed up!!! They told my GBM stage 4. And I would die in a year and half. Been 15 months and feel better than ever.... We really want to tell the world!!!!! Saved my life for sure.” Rachel

-- Tell everyone you can that there is a safe and effective cure/control for cancer, and that it can be used as a prevention against cancer, too. The sooner you start spreading the word in your community the sooner people will overcome their hesitations and will demand this medicine. Be ready for a lot of resistance in the beginning. If you let them read posts and comments on this page, I think it will take less time to convince them. Thank you for your help in spreading the word about this medicine. JB

As I said repeatedly, I agree with you that zoos are unnatural.

You start with unnatural, you end with unnatural.

You start with unnatural, you end up making unnatural choices.

This is a hard hard world, and we as humans are killing it more and more every day.

Zoos have morphed from being horrible cages, confining animals to be gawked at by unfeeling humans. Now zoos, the good ones, do their damnedest to create as natural an environment as possible.

Which still isn't very natural.

You say that this was an "unconscionable" choice, the killing of poor Marius (by the way, I mourn him, too.)

Do you think they should have taken the $600K from the wealthy person wanting to save his life? Even though it would have sentenced poor Marius to isolation and depression for the rest of his "natural" life? To me, that would be unconscionable. Blood money, made off the suffering of a single animal.

I think the real problem here is the very existence of zoos. There would be no Marius if there were no zoos.

I keep thinking about my dad's second wife. She was a piece of cake -- not the sharpest knife in the drawer, not capable of reasoned, step by step thinking. She had a great native -- almost feral -- intelligence though, it just wasn't that "logical."

One day, my uber-logical engineer father said something that she didn't like. I didn't like it either. So Oleta said, in a thick Okie drawl, "Just because something is right, doesn't mean it is right."

I almost started laughing at the absurdity of her statement, until I realized what she was really saying. So I asked her, "Do you mean just because something is logical, that doesn't mean it is right?" Yep. That was what she meant.

I think this is one of those situations. There are logical step by step reasons that led to poor Marius being literally fed to the lions. And then there is the emotional truth of a healthy and happy young giraffe being treated like he wasn't an individual with a right to a natural life.

Just because it was right, doesn't mean it was right.

A10anis said:

You say; "Those lions got fed their natural diet for a change. Consider being happy for them?"
Certainly. But I would be happier if the lions had hunted it down in the wild, as nature intended, rather than it being handed to them. Anyway, meat IS their natural diet, ANY meat. Or do they normally feed their captive lions on tinned cat food?
Nature takes no prisoners, it is cruel. But this wasn't nature. It was the slaughter of a perfectly healthy giraffe in their care, and is unconscionable.

It's not that easy, @chingalera. I am one of those progressive liberals who are supposed to be twee about every life.

And I share your horror at medical costs that are poured into the days of our eldest citizens.

It is different when it is your loved one. My dad almost died seven years ago, was in ICU for a week, rehab hospital for a month, then to a nursing home. He would have died, too, if he had had a DNR. But how could I sign a DNR for someone who was going into the hospital for a simple gall bladder operation?

He has one now, but he didn't at the time. He survived and went from being miserable living with his second wife to having seven years of great quality of life. Seeing five great grandchildren born, two of whom were named for him. Winning just about every fishing tournament they had -- most fish, biggest fish, smallest fish -- one prize, if not all three of them. Finding his way into being a more loving person with his family than he ever allowed himself to be before.

And he "should have" died, by every practical financial measure.

These seven years have been the greatest blessing our family could have received.

Is that gross negligence and fraud, for the hospital to have saved his life at an enormous cost? Because in many ways, we got a father we never knew before.

And he has a DNR now. If it repeats, he is a goner. And we are all fine with that. But damn if I am not thrilled that I failed to get it before.

Daft Punk, Pharrell Williams & Stevie Wonder - Get Lucky

dannym3141 says...

That man stood up on the mic cannot hit a note to save his life. I can do better, i'm not joking, and i am not a singer. Without the backing (recorded? can't tell) the start of the song would have been flat by a tone or more on all the high bits. Is that to be my first introduction to exactly what the weird faced man called Pharrell Williams does? Shits up a song?!

Winter Driving is Dangerous! Please slow down

notarobot says...

*Wtf? Where did this happen? Did no one use their four-way flashers to indicate that they were driving slowly or stopped? (Or is it just the video quality?) Winter tires people! "All-seasons" usually just means 'rain-tires.' Snow tires can save your life!

Kudos on the truckers for actually slowing down and not hitting anyone.

OTHER PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES. SLOW DOWN!

luxury_pie says...

Fellow German here. I can drive as fast as I want, if I like, to start things off.
Take the following calculations. Let's say your daily route to work is 20 km. You're driving with 107 kph the whole duration. It'll take you ~11 minutes to arrive at your destiantion.

Now drive 80 kph when you're going back home. You now need 15 minutes.

This doesn't take into account that often times you're driving through towns, where you have to go around 30-60 kph and have to decelerate and accelerate everytime. So if you're going 107 tops, your average speed may vary.

I am aware that many people have to and will travel farther. I am aware that they may actually want to drive as fast they're feeling ok with. But the heightend risk is realisitcally almost never worth the time you save.

But - to me - this ad is about being aware about the fact that people make mistakes. And that your participation on the road is not some privilege. It's a risk. Reduce that risk whenever you can. It may save a life.

In the light of the current tactics of the police in NZ I get that you take it differently @ChaosEngine.

Anti-abortion Ohio legislator-"I never even thot about it"

bcglorf says...

Was gonna come on to say exactly that.

It's too bad that having an actual debate on abortion is nearly impossible.

People that believe life begins at conception are morally opposed to abortion as based on that belief abortion is taking a human life and only tolerable or forgivable if done to save another life.

People who do not believe life begins at conception are morally opposed to dictating what a pregnant human can and can not do with their body, again based on that belief.

The debate IMHO must, absolutely must, be around when life begins but nobody wants to talk about that. People want to decry the baby killers and the woman hating religious bigots.

Meanwhile, that digging in of everyone's heals leads to abortion clinics being bombed to save the children, and people lobbying for abortions to be legal up until the day before the child would be born(current Canadian law I'll add). I'd dare say neither extreme is supported by the majority, but people's biases on the subject don't seem to allow enough compromise to condemn the extreme ends of there own 'side'.

robbersdog49 said:

That's what I was thinking. I agree with all the arguments people in this thread have made, that abortion is a good thing and that more people should fight for a woman's right to make their own choices about their body.

But I can't help but feel they're all missing the point. You're absolutely right, he hasn't thought about it because it's completely irrelevant to his reasons for wanting the bill.

Twist it round a little bit and imagine they were talking about actual murder of grown up people, and bringing in a law to stop it. The reporter asks the bill's sponsor if they've thought about why the murderer wants to murder. It would seem like a ridiculous question. What difference does it make? Killing people is wrong and you shouldn't be allowed to do it, regardless of how much you might want to.

Obviously that's a hypothetical situation, but from the republican/christian point of view it's an identical argument. The question is irrelevant.

How to Coil Cables

chingalera says...

You'd be surprised to discover how many thousands of so-called intelligent peeps be unable to execute the simplest of opposable digit tasks. My ex-father-in-law, a published, successful pulmonary physiologist at a world-renown hospital couldn't wield a shovel to save his life. I often refer to this line from a Heinlein novel as a road map to what is is to be an actual, human being:
"A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects." — Robert Heinlein, Time Enough for Love

Why People Should Be Outraged at Zimmerman's 'Not Guilty'

dirkdeagler7 says...

Turk keeps asking what he is supposed to tell his God-Son or any other person of color if they're being followed or attacked? It's very simple really, the same thing I've been taught since I was a kid and the same thing I do now and the same thing I'll tell everyone else to do...

Run and Call for help. Run screaming "fire" and do everything you can do to escape until they force you to stand your ground. If you're forced to stand your ground, do anything possible to save your life and the lives of innocent people around you until you CAN escape to safety.

If he was only a couple of blocks from home, if he really did circle back twice, if he knocked zimmerman to the ground and was not shot in the back.....then regardless of whether he was defending himself or not, he did not run when he had the chances to. He doesn't deserve to die for that mistake, it's a tragedy he did and no one should have to worry about getting shot EVEN if they get into a fist fight.

However you can not tell me he did everything in his power to reach safety before pursuing a fight to the ground or even after his opponent went to the ground. Of course neither did Zimmerman and that is why he went on trial for felony charges. If neither person did everything they could to avoid this situation then neither of them is devoid of at least some blame in the confrontation itself.

ps I'm not white.

Couriers catch girl falling from 4th floor with their hands

The distinction is pointless. She fell, they caught/slowed her fall enough to almost def save her life. Why be so narky about it!?

Um, they did NOT catch her. But it looks like they slowed her descent enough to prevent fatal injury.

The Perks of Paranoia

Jinx says...

I don't really buy much of this. Is paranoia really a genetic trait? The video seems to suggest that evolution favours paranoia, but here we all are for the most part not paranoid of everything. There is a price for false positives, that's energy wasted running from the wind in the trees or a distrust of others thats results in fewer mating opportunities for example. The truth just might save your life, but seems to me the paranoid as just as likely to miss the truth because they see patterns and assign meanng where there are none and they end up overlooking the simpler explanation. So yah. I'm calling bullshit.

Elevator Murder Experiment

chingalera says...

Moron eh?

He saw a situation and reacted in an exemplary fashion.

One man killing another, he doesn't know why, nor does he know what the attacker has for him-Knife?? Gun?? Fuck It-Look for best way to diffuse and confuse and perhaps save the life of the poor guy on the floor without getting yourself injured.

His reaction and response was hands-down, the best besides the people who actually tried to stop it rather than flee with their ass and head up inna cell-phone.

You're thinking way too hard about air-quality over a man's life here, Orz...

Oh, and the guy who photographs the scene and leaves???-Pricelessly insane.!

Orz said:

How about the moron with the fire extinguisher that was doing about as much harm to the victim as the attacker?
