Virtuality is Good SciFi (Scifi Talk Post)

EDD says...

Have been looking forward to it since almost a year ago I think, when I first heard about it. What intrigued me about it was the premise, the creator (BSG's Ron D Moore), the cast and pretty much every other detail that was out there at the time. Such a shame about FOX doing what it does best - seemingly almost purposefully killing potentially great shows with their fucked-up 'executive decisions'.

Thanks for giving the heads up though - I'll eagerly check it out asap

Great *animation sift. I've known Ron D.Moore and David Eick are great guys from interviews, but apparently they should also be making a cartoon show

Seriously though, I'm sure RDM's Virtuality will be great in its own right.

The Pirate Bay (2007)

Well, I think that, again-hypothetically, if one lives in a European country in which BSG isn't broadcast in English but is abysmally translated and dubbed like the communist party's meeting protocol (that's without emotion for you free-capitalist-swine) AND shown with a time lag of at least a year, it should be fine for an individual to not engage in the blasphemy that is the translation and instead regularly download the series in HD from torrent sites as long as they've made a commitment to buy full HDDVDs (Blurays from now on, obviously) of all seasons and have already purchased the first season, and, on top of it, have been inspired by this thread to simply mail a cheque to Ron.D.Moore in order to benefit the artist, not the corporate wallets. This is not to imply that this hypothetical individual is me, of course.

Anyway, if one inquired why I think it's oftentimes OK to pirate, I have a simple answer:
Because it is (universally) deemed morally acceptable in the community of my peers. Simple as that.

Btw, nice to see more fellow sifters talk about BSG - Payback, Crosswords, salutations

Space Diva: a celebration of Starbuck (Battlestar Galactica)

exactly. this was confirmed on the miniseries commentary track by Ron D.Moore and in my opinion both livened the show up as well as made it more realistic (I know, that's an almost impossible feat - 1/3 sarcasm).

>> ^uhohzombies:
In the original pilot mini-series script, Kara's morning jog includes the lines "Whaddya hear?" "Nothin' but the rain." "Then grab your gun and pull the cat out" This was a Marine-style marching cadence that the special effects people later requested be re-used in the Viper battle sequence in Part 2. In the final cut the line reads "Grab your gun, and bring in the cat." In "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part I," Kara again uses the expression "bringing the cat home".
I assume it's just a military thing in the BSG universe, and it was a moment of solidarity between Adama and Thrace, given how he sees her as a daughter.
