You know what would make this video gold? If he had had a steadicam that keeps the face centered and lets the scenery move around it.

What, are you PRO facial fractures or something!?

edit: the guy in the video is a dipshit. What he's doing is the same thing I'm complaining about, squared. He's putting on a performance instead of just riding the ride. Extra dipshit points for putting everyone behind him at risk of facial fractures.

really? maybe you should chill the fudge out, brosef.

I personally have never understood people's need to scream and yell on a roller coaster. So many people seem to think that's the point.

Or maybe, just maybe, they just having plain old fun and expressing themselves. Just because you don't express yourself the same way is no reason to suspect everyone else's motives.

really @budzos?

I'm not saying you shouldn't scream on roller coasters. Do it if you feel compelled by joy. But don't do it because that's what you see people in movies and commercials do. Namsayin?

The "One Album Per Sifter" Quest (Rocknroll Talk Post)

residue says...

Love this idea. I'll add something a little different...

You really ought to check out some Devin Townsend if you're into some really unique sounds.. The guy has an incredible range but dedicates his base music to "metal." Though the genre is closest to metal most of the time, he also has some really outside music as well with a recent example being the paired 2 disc project of deconstruction and ghost, 2 wildly different albums. One of my favorite projects by Townsend, however, is an album called Synchestra, which when played as intended is a seamless blend of an entire album. There are no gaps between most of the songs making it very easy to listen to the whole album. It's also got cameo artists like Steve Vai and Deborah Tyzio in some tracks.

On a side note I he's incredible live. Seen him twice, once headlining. Amazing. He talks to the crowd the entire time and got down in the crowd to play a few times. Wonderful energy, great personality and really intelligent.

I'll stick a few links from synchestra in here though it's better to go start to finish and enjoy the rollercoaster

All from Synchestra:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc2dsNQX4Tw - Triumph. Metal + banjo? why not...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XERqZRMG5Cg - vampolka. Directly precedes vampira, which can be found on the sift.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzewVfIX9_w - Gaia. awesome tune. A "sprinting" song for me when running..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ0T7_3YD6o - Pixillate, follows Gaia. awesome vocals once it gets going. goosebumps.

Zero Punctuation: Battlefield 3

Deano says...

>> ^Gallowflak:

The reason the SP was hyped up and marketed so much was that it was EA's forced, ridiculous and damaging attempt to have Battlefield 3 compete with Modern Warfare 3. Anyone who knows anything about the series is aware that this is a multiplayer franchise, offering vast battlefields, large playercounts and strategic openness not seen anywhere else in shooters. Except maybe Tribes.
I can't fault anyone for paying undue attention to Battlefield 3's singleplayer, considering how the game's marketing has been handled. But it shouldn't be the reason for investigating BF3. Your reason should be being able to bail out of a jet and top speed, parachute down onto the turret of a tank, plaster it with C4 and blow yourself to oblivion.

That sounds a bit odd since Call of Duty is also heavy on MP emphasis is it not? The problem is that realistically, Battlefield does simply not have the same pull over consumers that CoD does.

That kind of plays into my thinking that what most people want, and indeed buy in their millions, is an explosive, viscerally exciting rollercoaster ride.

Thus I'm not at all surprised that BF3's SP seems to be as shallow as anything Infinity Ward has offered.

Trader on BBC News says Eurozone Market will crash

Porksandwich says...

So in this case it's an individual saying what the big businesses are doing, using the recession/depression to increase earnings AND attempting to influence laws and legislation to continue to do so.

Despite what many of the corporations claim the market is doing to them, their profits have been increasing. And we still have companies cutting benefits, laying off people, and many other things.

In fact some of this doublespeak is going to cause them a lot of headaches in the future, especially in production/manufacturing where many of the companies laid off massive amounts of people and despite needing the majority of them back they tried to hire cheaper labor.

But they are finding, at least in my area, that there is virtually no training programs available for manufacturing because they had problems recruiting people in these dismal times with all the BS the companies spouted, so people went into medical and stuff where they were told there were shortages.

Now they have their previous work forces that they laid off, looking to retire instead of putting up with more of the rollercoaster they created. No trained young people to replace the guys looking to retire, and a whole lot of pissed off people who were laid off and never recalled because the company is trying to make more money using unskilled labor where it can.

One company in particular went on the news and spoke about how they couldn't find any "qualified" workers, despite having laid off the majority of their work force just a year prior and admitting they over-reacted in doing so.

It's backwards of the way it should be, these companies should be telling people what they want on your qualifications. Finding a school or training program that can provide it and giving them a rough estimate of what they would be able to hire locally and possibly globally.

Instead we hear repeatedly about how the colleges/universities are putting out graduates that don't fulfill the needs of companies, but they keep requiring a degree to work at said company.

There's just too much BS to wade through in the job market to get anywhere without contacts, and the companies themselves are to blame for the conditions they've created. They've made it more costly for people to get their foot in the door, and they still aren't even clear about what they actually want from employees. Except for maybe drug rep companies, they want ex-cheerleaders to flirt the doctors into prescribing....of course their job ad will never say anything close to this.

In The Fall

Lamanite1 jokingly says...

Beautiful, just beautiful and so fitting for a Monday morning at my new Government job..sitting in my wee cubicle of death. After 5 years of teaching Engrish (lol) abroad in Asia, coming home to Canada has been a wild rollercoaster of emotions and difficult transitions. Walking to work this am, most on the street look like unsmiling zombies devoid of happiness...seeing this video really has made me (again) question if coming back was the right choice. FML

Jim Jefferies - Drinking

MaxWilder says...

Some people also stop drinking because they have to.

I suspect that those people who say they don't need alcohol to have fun are probably just trying to avoid talking about why they really don't drink. Like alcoholic parents or something like that. Perfectly understandable. But still makes for a funny joke.

Oh, and if you don't drink and you don't have a good reason, then you are missing out. Sure it's not something you need to do all the time, but that's like saying "I don't need to go on rollercoasters to have a good time." Boring wanker.
