How Long Would It Take The Whole World To Turn Into Zombies?

Asmo says...

Guess it depends on which zombie mythos you're using/hoping for... ; )

28 days later/rage virus style zombies could be starved out but are much more aggressive and more likely to spread infection. Incubation time is relatively short so it's not likely people on planes would be able to transmit intercontinentally.

Resident Evil zombies can have the virus spread via birds so transcontinental infection would be much faster. All in all, RE infection is basically the worst of the worst in terms of zombie invasions with the penchant for mutation in to super zombies/creatures.

Classic Romero dead that just rise up and start fucking the planet over? Much slower but much less likely to be stopped.

Remember, you also have to factor in things like:

a) high suicide rates from people believing there is no hope
b) infrastructure and services failing (power plants, water, food etc) which would lead to starvation etc
c) nutjobs deliberately spreading the infection (your standard doomsday cult sorta thing)

The Walking Dead trailer

NordlichReiter says...

I didn't think given the beginning of the trailer that this would do the graphic novel justice. But by the end of the trailer, maybe.

@flechette my impression of the zombies in this novel are much more traditional. Slow, hungry and powerful in numbers.

The zombies in 28 days weren't zombies at all, but humans infected with the rage virus. Which, I thought, was an extreme bastardization of what results from the late stages of Lyssavirus commonly known as rabies.

Stop Dressing Your Six Year Old Like a Skank

choggie says...

"Marketing aimed at children"......in the U.S., it's a television facing any cornea. Television, is a window, into a twisted, frightening, world....feel the same way watching it, as someone without the rage virus in "28 Days Later" esp.,in election years......"must kill to survive!"
