Hitler tries to rent an apartment in San Francisco

shagen454 says...

I lived in many places in SF from 2001-2011, TL, SOMA, Bernal Heights, Lower-Haight and for a longer while in the Mission.

Never paid more than $550.

Been living in Oakland the last year - have a house 2 small blocks from BART, 1 stop to SF (although there is no need) 7 bedrooms, 2 roommates, 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, large backyard (with many fantastic substances growing), laundry room... and still do not pay over $550 and Oakland is where all the cool people are anyway these days + Quality of life in my opinion is much better especially because the cost of living is a lot lower since I'm not being nickel & dimed (One Dollared) everywhere I go. I can walk to work without any fucking stupid fucks saying a fucking word to me, I could take the bus and not sit in fucking piss & blood and it isn't crowded usually 1 or 2 people on the bus.

Been in SF a few times over the year to see Acid Mother's Temple, Meshuggah and also Panda Bear live...but Oakland even has better Mexican food so it's increasingly off my radar.

Is San Fran still under rent control? Had on Market at 6th 2nd floor studio bills-paid $690-per-month in the late 90s-Same place is probably $1700-2K a month now, if I'd only stayed....

Welcome to the sift Laurence! As Eric mentioned you can upvote your own video submissions. You might want to do that right now on your human radar video so it can be your first one to sift. I love that clip

Three random guys sing together

lucky760 says...

Flying under the radar (at least here on VS it is; on YT it has > 8 million views right now). Hadn't heard about this, but just saw it on Jimmy Kimmel where the the guys all performed on his stage and his whole band accompanied them, as did rappers Trey Songz, Juicy J, and Aloe Blacc. (Although I have no clue who those guys are because I'm unfortunately, totally unaware of modern popular artists.)

Lockheed F-35 vs F-18 Super Hornet

eric3579 says...

For those like me who was kinda confused about what this was about:

(from YouTube)
In this video, two boys simplify the debate to a true value statement. They both received $10.00 from their grandfather. One bought an F-35, the other got 3 F-18's with everything needed to maintain it, and keep them flying.

This contentious debate in geopolitical circles is focused around joint strike fighter choices. Does a country procure the F-35 or the F-18 Super Hornet? The F-35 is an impressive new fighter, designed to meet the needs of all branches of the military. The challenge is in order to meet everyone's needs, you have to make compromises. For example, once loaded with weapons, the F-35 begins to lose it's stealth abilities. Is it really invisible to radar and how much foil area did they have to give up to maneuverability?

In the end we realize... it's really not that complicated.

AsapSCIENCE - 3D Printing will Change Everything

visionep says...

You can print plastic or bio matter, but printing hardened materials like steel or even carbon fiber is not even on the radar yet.

Thinking that you would be able to print anything you need if you only had the materials is likely impossible.

It is like dreaming that everyone could have their own nuclear reactor in their house so that they wouldn't have to pay the electric company for power anymore.

Yes, that was a thing in the 60's when no-one understood much about nuclear energy. Just like that technology, something better and safer will likely come around that will supplant the need for that crazy idea.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball (More Like Holy Fuckball!)

btanner says...

I'm not personally a fan, but Miley wins at famous. She was pretty low on the radar. All she had to do was twerk and stick her tongue out and then release a silly music video and she is now still big news for whatever she does.

Her plan worked with epic success.

The Women of Rockabilly

Always wanted to know how and why the Collins Kids dropped off the radar so quickly....Big sister felt the call of the wild, up and married her manager(16 years her senior). Guess she really dug her dad?? Whole family was pissed about the marriage. Larry never quite recovered.

Honda Commercial - Impossible Made Possible

EvilDeathBee says...

Honda have really dropped off the radar for me recently, and I used to really fancy them. After getting the new 2014 Mazda 3 GT, it really puts to shame Honda's (and many other manufacturer's, tbh) offerings, they're just dull

Still, sweet ad though!

A Young Man Finds His Way Back Home After Two Decades

Tingles says...

Too many years of Internet...this feels like a commercial more than anything else.

I want to believe it isn't. But the music, production values and staged scenes for the camera (like the step mother putting up the map, which is only one of a few here) have my radar on "No".

Edit: but I will look into this story more.

Proof that Bunnies can Fly

Speed Kills Your Pocketbook

LiquidDrift says...

Here in Oregon they have photo radar trucks that drive around, park on the side of the road and photo and ticket you if you go 9-10 miles over the limit. It's outrageous and you can't challenge the ticket either as the tech is considered foolproof. They park the things on safe roads where I've not seen accidents and in sneaky places like at the bottom of a hill after a slight curve in the road. It's totally about the money and the insurance companies are in on it. In some places, they actually pay for the radar/laser equipment.
