Cool. Love the prog rock. Are you in to any of the contemporary stuff like Porcupine Tree. It might not fit your playlist criteria, but you might enjoy it regardless.

I'm a mega-hardcore prog rock fan and love Porcupine Tree (seen them several times live). I just posted a new clip here if you're interested. I failed to get 10 votes for this before.

Farhad2000 says...

Pink Floyd are an English rock band that earned recognition for their psychedelic rock music, and as they evolved, became widely known as pioneers of progressive rock music. Pink Floyd are known for their philosophical lyrics, classic rock songwriting, sonic experimentation, innovative cover art, and elaborate live shows. One of rock music's most successful and influential acts, the group has sold over 250 million albums worldwide, and an estimated 73.5 million albums in the United States alone.

Porcupine Tree - Trains

Farhad2000 says...

I just love this band and this song.

Porcupine Tree is an English progressive rock band formed in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England by Steven Wilson. Their music is a combination of rock, psychedelia, ambient and, more recently, metal. The main songwriter, Wilson, once commented: "I like so many different types of things, and they all go into the melting pot, if you like, that produces the music of Porcupine Tree."

Opeth - Harvest (studio recording session)

Farhad2000 says...

This is one of my favorite songs from my favorite Swedish band Opeth. I saw them live several times and they honestly make other musicians look like amateurs.

Opeth is a progressive death metal band from Sweden. Opeth adds several lighter elements to their music, such as acoustic guitar interludes, influences from jazz, 1970s progressive rock, blues and folk elements. Vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt performs both clean singing and death vocals.

Due to their unique blend of melodic and progressive elements, they are said not to conform to any specific metal sub-genre. Opeth have also been influential in the doom metal genre and have attracted a lot of doom metal fans. The name Opeth was taken from the novel Sunbird by author Wilbur Smith, and was originally spelled Opet. In the book, Opet is the name of the location for an ancient empire which translates to "City of the Moon".

Anekdoten - The War Is Over (beautiful trippy song)

Farhad2000 says...

Anekdoten is a Swedish progressive rock band, comprised of guitarist/vocalist Nicklas Barker, cellist Anna Sofi Dahlberg, bassist/vocalist Jan Erik Liljeström and drummer Peter Nordins. They are notable for the use of the mellotron and the heavy and trippy sound, dominated by a pounding bass guitar. Their music is associated with the tradition of 1970s progressive rock music, especially the one of King Crimson, but they have also covered songs by Van Der Graaf Generator and Magma on their live performances.

One of my favorite songs evar!
