Joe Biden Slams McCains Delusional Economic Statements

imstellar28 says...

Is it just me, or does Sarah Palin know more about economics than Obama, Biden, McCain, and most people posting here?

from issues2000.org:
Firm believer in free market capitalism. (Nov 2006)
Encourage small business growth by reducing business taxes. (Nov 2006)
Health care must be market-and business-driven. (Jan 2008)
Doctors should manage health care, not bureaucracies. (Jan 2008)
More affordable health care via competition. (Nov 2006)
Home-based assistance more cost-effective than institutions. (Nov 2006)
Eliminate taxes that inhibit business. (Jan 2008)
No income tax; no taking the people's dividends. (Oct 2006)

I will praise jesus on sundays if she gives me a free-market. I think her sheltered, backwards, small-minded values have kept her in a vacuum, safe from the perverse notion of equality of outcome which has infected contemporary American philosophy.

Obama takes the gloves off - New Campaign Ad

This election isn't about the truth.

Not only that, but this truth is not packaged for likely republican voters. Sure it looks good if you lean left, it's honest, direct, reasonably respectful. Nobody who has "identity" issues with Obama, which is still a large subset of historically blue voters, is going to care at all about this.
I think McCain/Palin is a much bigger likelihood then most people are willing to recognize. The culture-war mindset that Palin creates could very easily bring this thing home for McCain.
"The Same" may, or may not be a good message, at least they are sticking with it, so it may end up sticking to McCain, but it looks like an all eggs in one basket strategy, and it makes me queasy watching it and thinking that it's just preaching to the choir.

Nail on head, dgandhi. People want to see their reflection; and that goes for both sides.

We want the smarter people in office, they want the pitbull soccer mom. It's the same dichotomy that I find when I go to family gatherings:

They're all sports fanatics, athlete of the year, Mr. and Mrs. popularity, deacons and prayer leaders at a Baptist church. They look to me for a sense of intelligence outside their usual mindset, respecting many of my opinions, except when it comes to politics and religion.

All rational thinking ends there.

They see their reflection in Palin and they see that it is good; they've been right all along, and McCain/Palin is going to make everyone feel more at home, less conflicted, less awkward about our sexuality and our faith as a nation. All those homosexuals and niggers and baby killers and preachers of the evil of evolution -- they're not going to be a problem any longer. They can accept a woman as VP, because, well, that's the less authoritative, yet still powerful role that wives in America have served for hundreds of years.

Praise Jesus!

I guess you can't please anyone here, everyone's bitching about this video not having slowmo replay, but when videos do have slowmo replays, they bitch about the unnecessary slowmo replay.

Amen, brother. Hallelujah! I just KNEW there was reason you took over the religion channel.

I am SO goddamn sick of slo-mo replays that it makes this video a virtual godsend. I normally don't vote for videos like these either, but the complete ABSENCE of a replay alone made it worth the upvote.

Also, the conclusion to Richard Dawkin's The Root Of All Evil - Part 2: The Virus Of Faith on Google Video, this is the source material for his book: The God Delusion.

This is a great film in the sense of showing how extreme religion is the root of all that is bad in the world; however I am not an atheist. There is one thing that this film does not address and that is spirituality and how pure spirituality is. For instance religion can only be good by someone with wisdom. Spirituality is the essence of wisdom and don't confuse wisdom for intelligence. Only when wisdom and intelligence are brought to oneself hand in hand one can find enlightenment, but also maintaining innocence like a child. Now true spirituality, which is common amongst many Guru's and Yogi's in India such as Sri Sri Ravi Sankar (www.srisri.org) unites all people of all religions to one God threw meditation, which is peaceful and embraces what love is all about and cares for everything in this world where as religion does not. These religions that are all segregated are evil because of their belief that one is better or truer than the other. Evolution is also real, but the only thing I would challenge Mr.Dawkin's on is the power of spirituality and if you don't meditate you'll never know who God is. God can only be experienced threw meditation and those who think otherwise have a distorted view of this world, but all life is about is experience and for those that wonder why all these bad things happen around the world and God hasn’t helped, it is because he gave us free will to choose and we have done as we please threw control. Also the bible, some of it may have value, but don't think that it's original; the original bible has been changed by the church in order to control people. Another thing is that Jesus,Mohammed,Khisna etc were just messengers of God with divine power. When churches just praise Jesus this is wrong in their sense because most people think Jesus was the one true son of God when in fact we all are and Jesus, Mohammed, Khrisna etc were true representatives of what God is. You should be praising the almighty creator because Mohammed, Jesus Khrisna etc simply were enlightened at birth and enlightenment lead to their miracles, but we can all do this if you find enlightenment and I am not a hypocrite because I have not found full enlightenment yet, but full enlightenment may bring about powers that are divine. One other thing the only religions I have more respect for are those such as the native american religions that are more pure with the earth and Budhism, because they are not a typical religions and they are based on more spirtual values, again those are the only ones I know from studying and there maybe more religions that have a sense of spituality. So if you have no idea what I have just written you are distorted from society, materialism etc and maybe you should try some Kundalini Yoga to help get you back on track or take the art of living course by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and you may start to understand what the word love means.

How Mitt Romney Bought Iowa

BicycleRepairMan says...

I grew up in Iowa and I can promise you Iowans can't be bought.

Everyone can be bought, its just a matter of price, as Al Capone noted.

The point is, he doesnt have to buy everyone. He only buys the leaders of churches etc and they go "Praise Jesus, God Bless America, and vote Mitt Romney!" These fraudulent scumfucks use precisely the qualities you mention to get support with the masses.

This has nothing to do with Iowans being stupid, corrupt or gullible, In a place full of liberals, you could do the same thing, talk about the evil corporate machine, the little man getting screwed by the military industial complex, and adding "thats why you should vote <whoever>" Of course, those leaders etc are not robots, theyll do it more subtly than that, but its not rocket science. Money can buy votes. And if people are taught from birth to follow a religion that calls its supporters a flock.. Well, this is why people should be taught to think for themselves.

Oh, praise Jesus that I don't live in the State of Virginia. Though I did live through portions of the Big Dig in Boston. *shudder

When you call a structure that was supposed to promote traffic efficiency a "mixing bowl", something has gone horribly, horribly wrong from an engineering perspective.

Great post. I am still always on the lookout for something great about the White City.

You have to understand, deathcow - Wumpus lives in a world where all white cops are heroic truthtellers and all black drive-thru attendants are stupid criminals who formulate dastardly plans to steal $10 from said heroes on videotape without any kind of excuse or escape plan.

Not to mention how badly tort reform is needed. It's a crime that the city who later fired the hero in question had to pay that little thief at the drive-thru $60,000. Vote Republican, and praise Jesus!
