I really liked that one too... I was lucky to get in the first 10 votes!

You are correct! That melody at the end is quoting "Raggle Taggle Gypsy." I thought someone had sifted it already but it wasn't one here yet so here you go!

Hi Fusionaut, see what you think of this one:

Also, the music near the end sounds rather celtic to me, I think you could almost claim it

Right...I mean, wrong. By the time you get your crown you're basically this. You're probably going to get beat up. More often.

Thanks, KP! But at least I get more street cred, right? Right?

I demand a church wedding! It's off; it's all off.
Congrats on the big D. Notice how you get no additional privileges. Kind of a gyp, really. It also puts you in the same class as rottenseed. Maybe killing a few videos right now would be a good idea.

Your vote for my Planxty video gave me a diamond. I accept your proposal but only if the wedding can be in a garden.

Thanks, moo!

It looks like it was an epic gathering of musicians. It' be nice if there was more of it out there but I think it might be hard to find.

Hi Fusionaut, hope your good! Coping with a hangover myself... Well I'm not really sure other than it being "The late late show" with Gay Byrne. I will have a look though and see if I can find anything further, I'm sure there must be more information out there! I will give you a shout when I get something else on it!

Hey moodonia,
I've just made the connection between your Seamus Ennis video:
Calvados' Planxty video:
and my John Conneely video:
(you can see both Seamus Ennis and Planxty in the dance one)
Do you have any info on the show those clips are taken from? Thanks, man!

Planxty "The Blacksmith" on the Late Late Show
I still prefer Steeleye Span's version, as sung by Maddy Pryor... though I'll admit it's pop-ish, and I can certainly understand why a lot of people would rather listen to Planxty's more traditional version.
Just a great song, really, whatever the arrangement...
