The Last Audio Cassette Factory
I still have a cache of cassette tapes I'm not willing to let go of - including all of the released Skinny Puppy cassettes, Rossini's Barber of Saville, Caramon (Bizet), and a whack of classical (Bethovan, Stravinsky, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Phillip Glass) , the Brown Album from Bootsauce and some Pop Will Eat Itself (PWEI)
Unfortunately, without thinking, I sold both my cassette players at my last garage sale, now I have nothing to play them on....

Koyaanisqatsi Trailer
A couple of years ago, Phillip Glass came to San Francisco and over three nights, scored all three of the "qatsi" films live. At one part in the third film, a fully-attired muezzin came out and performed the Adhan (the Islamic call to prayer). That was the first time I'd ever heard the Adhan performed and it gave me chills.
At the end of the film, Glass and ensemble were given loud applause. When the muezzin walked on stage, he was given a standing ovation.
Aphex Twin - Equation (5:49)
This is nothing by the way. You should hear his ambient project with Phillip Glass. I fully believe that in the future, Richard D James will be like Led Zeppelin.
... and I'll be there. To say that you only like him because he's popular.

Solar Sail Simulation
Very cool. As close to free propulsion as you can get. I always feel a twinge of sadness when I realize I probably will not see colonization in my lifetime. Then again, maybe that sadness is just the Phillip Glass score in the background. The one serious issue concerning solar sails are tears due to micro-meteorites and other space trash. I heard that they are thinking about self healing sails but that is all I've heard.

+1 for the Phillip Glass music at the end.
That's great music. What is it called?
It's from "Mishima: A Life In Four Chapters" the exact track is the first one, "Opening" and the clip used is from about 1 minute in to the track. The whole soundtrack is amazing though, I recommend seeing the movie and/or getting the soundtrack.

Errol Morris - The Movies Movie (Short for Oscars '02)
Fabulous!
*deep breath* I saw Phillip Glass, Lou Reed, Laurie Anderson, Iggy Pop, Gorbachev, Christy Turlington, Susan Sontag, Fran Leibowitz, Lani Guinier, Leontyne Price, Charlie Sheen, Jello Biafra, William Wegman and some Weimaraner, Al Sharpton, Walter Cronkite, several faces I damn well know but can't remember the names for, and a whole bunch of Hey! It's That Guy!s
I could have done without Trump and Laura Bush. Trumpie gets by for this being so NY-centric, given this was the spring of 2002, but Laura's presence was pure ass-kissing.
