The singer in soulwax (also Half of 2many djs) is in a relationship with the keyboard player in lcd soundsystem (the aforementioned Nancy Whang). Anyway, he goes over to New York to do some recording (payed by the record company) but just fucks around for however long. They then bash out this track in a few hours, hence NY excuse.

This is probable not completely true, but it sounds good to me.
