Rush Limbaugh - Jackass (Terrible Talk Post)

quantumushroom says...

I find it difficult to believe that in a world saturated with the bloated egos of rock stars, movie stars, souless celebutantes and reality-show goofballs, one tongue-in-cheek paragraph of playful hype is "the most disgusting piece of vanity (you've) ever read".

I'll tell you what no one else will, without knowing your background: as far as learning how the world really works, you've never had a chance.

You've been lied to at every turn about human nature, economics, religion and history by people who believe government is the all-knowing power, with a solution for every problem if only you, as a loyal drone, surrender your money and rights to a select few enlightened government leaders.

These folks have been in charge of your schooling for their propaganda from Grade K to kollij. They consider it their right to deprogram the influences of religion, morality or any teachings your family might have that contradict theirs. You were/are their clay to mold.

With few exceptions these same types run the mainstream media and all the easy multimedia based on this government = utopia philosophy: movies, tv, even music. They don't quite have as strong a grip on books or the net, but as more people are turned off to serious reading and onto distracting amusements on the web, those two are becoming less a threat.

They have assured you that by listening only to their message, you have heard all points of view and don't need to seek out anything else. They have assured you that you are indeed a freethinking rebel, fighting a valiant fight to tear down the evils of The System, so that one day there will be NO obstacles to the Vision of the Annointed.

The odds are, you're never going to wake up from their plans for you. They are offering you a comfortable protection from the inherent risks and hardships of life, as long as you don't question them or frown too long at how much they're taking out of your paychecks (or will be).

Rush Limbaugh started out as a nobody sportscaster and worked his way up. Yes, he comments on politics but has always made it clear he is first and foremost "an entertainer". Based on what you've indicated here and now, you're not qualified to judge Limbaugh, his views or what he does. (If you listened to at least one hour a day of his 3-hour program for six weeks...maybe).

If there's truly something about him you "hate" you should embrace it and put it to the test. Find some of Limbaugh's facts and compare them to others' facts.

If you've read this far, you're probably saying, "Well, who is this asshole to judge ME?" I'm not judging you and you shouldn't take this mini-rant personally. I don't want you to believe anything blindly.

Having already been a sincere liberal and even an anarchist, along the way I've learned whatever I've learned and have not always been happy or willing to go where the new knowledge took me, but I think the ideas outside of Their Vision have more merit, because while the answers aren't always happy-forever, they make sense, and will protect you in the long run from those who will take all your liberty in exchange for an impossible-to-guarantee security.

Good night and good luck, playa!

LIVE Webcam Feed From the International Space Station

I don't know why .. I tried in Firefox and Ie.
right now it's showing people at their stations in mission control ..

edit .. and lot of chatter with the ISS .. It's awesome listening to them go through each step of whatever procedure they are doing.
They have an announcer that pipes in once in awhile to tell you what will happen next.
If you can't get it to work .. a direct link to the stream is here.
Or if that still doesn't work you can go here and click "External Camera Video" where it says "Live From the ISS" on the left hand side .. that's the feed I'm streaming here.

I can easily relate to this.

I was learning multimedia design a few years ago and for me working in 3dstudio max was a pain because I was so afraid of making mistakes. I hated to have to go back and solve some mistake, this fear stopped me from doing alot of things.

Solving this fear I could resort to something like she talks about... or wine... lovely lovely wine, it was awsome.

A good portion of workrelated-PHP, XHTML, CSS and Javascripting. Quite alot of sparetime-Java & Processing. Finish off with a dash of playful Actionscript, and stir.

I'm currently working as a webdeveloper in a norwegian multimedia company.
I've always had this thing for figuring out how things work, and fixing them. Especially with logical things, like code.
I then spent a year in a small city, going to school. The problem was they weren't teaching me what I expected, so I started trying to learn it myself.
I accidentally stumbled upon Processing (.org) and fell in love. Been coding happily ever since, where my creations have ranged from games to applications and art.

I'm always happy to help, and I'm usually up for collaborating on something Always fun to get to know other coders

Very cool! I hope it goes well for you I'm still crashing mental ray, although not as much as I used to, now that I bought a new computer for the express purpose of doing that stuff. I still don't know what I'm doing wrong with the memory settings, but I'm getting closer. I at least -know- I have a powerful enough computer that should be able to handle it. I haven't seen anything with poorer memory management come along in a long time.

Made fun with.

I've just started back at Aarhus U on a multimedia supplement for a year. It's more on the humanities than the "actual" sciences, so basically more blah-blah than how-to. Still, it's a lot of fun.

What have you been doing, besides crashing your mental ray?

Hey! What's up? You haven't made fun of me lately.

grrr, it won't play for me. I'll upvote on good faith. I totally agree with KOMMIE regarding learning multimedia in College. I have taken dozens of multimedia classes, 3D modeling and animation included, but have only learned what feels like a days worth of material (excluding 3D courses). Their idea of "teaching" at my college consists of watching lynda.com videos and completing an assignment. Professional design practice and theory really isn't taught here.

ROFL! Ok, it's playing now. Totally worth the upvote! If it were a little longer it would make an awesome looping video! I was fortunate to have a really good instructor for my 3D animation class. But still, being on a quarter system, we didn't have much time to do any big projects. Instead we made a series of short animated clip with a pre-rigged figure. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=E07C54387BBD7474

True Romance - great "I love you" scene!

Really. How Stupid Can you Be? And you're in the ARMY?!?!?!

If it was fake, it wouldn't be coming from the Army's CRC.

Are you sure? The style of this video doesn't look anything like the vids that are actually posted on the CRC website: https://crc.army.mil/Multimedia/detail.asp?iData=75&iCat=58&iChannel=19&nChannel=Multimedia#pov

I can't get AKO access to browse the actual vids they have of soldiers shooting themselves or their buddies, but someone else probably could access it (requirement is current or Army military service) and tell us whether you find that clip there.
