Y'know, I went looking for a reference to cite to show you that with two outs and a runner on, a third strike was an automatic out regardless of whether it was caught. Turns out I was wrong and you were right. Of course there were two outs, that's why the other team in the vid thought the inning was over after the strikeout. And with two outs, it doesn't matter where any runners are. I'm pretty sure I argued on the wrong side of that rule in little league AND in high school--and I'm pretty sure I won at least one of those arguments. (If this msg seems long and needless, it's only cuz I've just finished drinking what now looks like a 2 liter can of Kirin beer, after downing my first of hopefully many rounds of snake blood mixed with booze followed by venom mixed with booze followed by ginseng mixed with booze. Man I love Taipei.)

OK, but maybe there were 2 outs? With 2 outs, a dropped third strike is in play no matter what.

Google Back In Time (Geek Talk Post)
Very cool to look back. Funny: searching for Barack Obama has results like Harvard Law and Senator and searching Sarah Palin "did not match any documents".

Sift Up Vancouver 08 - Success! (Food Talk Post)
It was a true pleasure meeting this fine group of folks, and we shared hours of enjoyable conversation (soh-ree, but what was said between us abehwt all you other Sifters is for us and us alone ). Djsunkid's phenomenal 12 course tasting menu was a culinary delight and one of the finest meals I've ever had.
I've put up 6 pictures from the Sift Up:
- VideoSift Tasting Menu - the nice printout of djsunkid's tasting menu
- Thai Coconut Soup with Tempura Sunflower Sprouts - djsunkid is missing a photo of it above
- Inside Fiddlehead Joe's - interior shot of the restaurant; we sat in the far left corner
- Kitchen Tour - djsunkid gives us a pointing tour of the kitchen; notice the lovely pile of tomatoes; behind djsunkid is a photo of a fiddlehead (it's a fern I've learned)
- All of us with labels - one of the few times during the meal djsunkid sat with us; the "bacon wrapped scallop" is on the table
- All but djsunkid - Another nice photo of most of us
Again, it was an unbelievably enjoyable night. Thanks for the meal, j, and thanks to you all for the company.(Which reminds me: don't miss this gem from deputydog, which I mentioned at dinner: http://www.dwigger.com/msg/i-love-the-blog-of-unnecessary-quotation-marks-1)

The evolution of the cell phone
kulpims, I've always had the exact opposite problem. I wanted MP3 player, Calendar, Notes, photo slideshow and so forth in my phone and until the iphone had never found any of that. Granted, the iphone has it's shortcomings too, but overall it has most of the features I was looking for.
RedSky, I'm one of those people who wanted everything integrated. Yes, I'm still waiting for a decent camera phone, but if need be, I have something on my phone. I don't like carrying around an MP3 player, a camera, a notepad, a dayrunner, a map, and so forth when I can have everything fit in one pocket. I'm extremely minimalistic and prefer to carry nothing extra if I have to.
But, my parents on the other hand, can barely figure out how to call people let alone use the built-in MP3 player, txt msg'ing, GPS navigation and everything else their FREE phone does. So I can agree with everyone there, that some people just don't use their tools to their fullest capacities, just like people who buy brand new computers when a outdated Windows 98 machine with a 766mhz processor is more than they'll ever need. Heck, my aunt is still using a Gateway with a 1.33mhz and 256mb RAM. It's her first computer, and she's never upgraded, but then again, she's never really used it.
Something Creative With those Sweet Chili Dorito Stickers (Blog Entry by dag)
Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)
What about all the sodium - can't you get your daily recommended sodium intake in one handful? Who eats one handful of Doritos?
Also MSG is a little different from naturally occurring glutamate as found in seaweed and other foods IIRC - something about the direction of the molecule. IANAMB - just saying.
Animatrix: Jue vs Thaddeus
i'm holding my vote for now coz this is part of the full version of Final Flight of the Osiris which has been sifted by qruel(in the related videos section below) but somehow got replaced by some lame music video version. I've left qruel a msg on his profile to fix it.
