Thug Notes - Great Expectations
Hell yeah! And I too thought the ending was rather odd. I really couldn't figure out what "I saw no shadow of another parting from her." meant at first. Later I learned Dickens wanted the ending to be somewhat melancholic like his original ending, so people suspect he purposely played with words to suggest 'it's not all sugar hills and rainbow farms down this road'.
BEACH HOUSE - "WISHES"

You Forgot To Hit Pause...
This made me really nostalgic. Not just the pixel art, but the music too.
Playing the SNES in a video game haze to a background of melancholic 90's rock, buoyant punk and grunge apathy; smoking too much; drinking cheap beer and vodka (and whatever else we could get our hands on).
Waking up on an old sofa chair bathed in dimly flashing colours and quiet, looping chip music.
Super Metroid; Prince of Persia; A Link to the Past; Secret of Mana; Mortal Kombat and Super Mario Kart.
Spider-Man and Wolverine comics, and Kerrang! on the floor.
And an otherwise, abject poverty.
Seems like another life now.
How to Solve a Song with Math
Major scales and "happy" 2:3 ratio frequencies makes me wanna vomit
it's more interesting to use different, and even dark melancholic tunes,
at least to me
and steven wilson
solve this

Huh. interesting. I heard an interview on NPR the other day with her, where she was speaking out against the changing of the gay pride flag.
interesting song, indeed. melancholic and confident at the same time.
glad you liked it,its pretty dark, and deals with love and drugs.
i have alwasy been a jefferson starship fan,but linda perry can belt.
i have a vid ready of her doing a remake of an old zeppelin tune.
man can she belt!
and check this out..grace slick was 52 when they made this track.
52!!
this was the only video i found that even came close to expressing the emotions sung about.
love,loss,broken loyalties and heart break.

Not too sure.. the dark subdued male vocals I think.. river of deceit? its been years : ) but something from those songs came to mind. Having a hard time finding it here now. River of Deceit is a great song by Mad Season (just listened to it again)

thanks for the promotes:)!Just listened to Mad Season, didn't know them before, ..which track reminds you most of the Mount Sims track? They indeed have a kind of dark melancholic sound, but quite rocky..

ABBA "Cassandra"
there's always this underlaying super melancholic feeling in all abba songs. which i like
Yann Tiersen - Comptine d'un autre été : L'après midi
She was the only saving grace in "Da Vinci Code"....same chick, right?? Audrey? God she's minxishly cute!
Can't vote this though; A musician, who loves piano as well,-a bit too melancholic
for the grey-matt buds. Hits like a soundtrack to a freekin' Dostoevsky novel!
Want some pie-anny? Got some comin'!
Doves-The Man Who Told Everything
I'm 'pounding' out the doves here, but they are an amazing band. They used to be called sub sub (a dance act) back in the early nineties (I would only have been ten and non the wiser, but I remember saying they were my favourite group) They released a few singles of note. These were 'Space face' and 'Ain't No Love (Ain't No Use)'. They bought a studio with the money... Things went wrong, it burnt down, and they were lost to all for a number of years until they came back strong in 2000 as Doves with the album 'Lost souls', a melancholic masterpiece of beauty. I saw them live when they toured their second album 'The last broadcast'. They were awesome.
