Penn & Teller Bullsh*t - Conspiracy Theories - Moon Landing

Raveni says...

Pardon me for being so bold, uneducated, and not doing any of my own research... but can't you see all of the junk that was left behind on the moon from these landers with a telescope?

Masten Space Systems' XA 0.1 VTOL Holddown Tests

That is what we call XA 0.1. It can only hover for about 45 seconds when fully loaded with fuel. The fuel is liquid oxygen and isopropyl alcohol (i.e. 99% pure rubbing alcohol). This vehicle's purpose is to test plumbing, engines, gymbals and flight control systems before we scale up the airframe and tanks. This test is only showing one engine, though. Once it checks out we add the other three and then let it fly under a teather.

For those who were able to make it to the XPRIZE Cup Expo in Las Cruces this past October, this is the vehicle we had on display at our tent. This won't be our Lunar Lander Challenge entry since it is too heavy (by design).

The deflector you see burning through is made of three layers of laminated douglas fir 2x4s....

Controversy: Did We Land On The Moon (Shown on FOX)

ren says...

The 3 major arguments are..
1)No stars in the footage
2)Flag waving with no atmosphere
3)No blast crater under the lander.

Lets analyze that closely.
1)No stars in the footage because of the contrasting brightness of the moons surface and the short exposure time of the film camera.

2)The flag does move, but only after it was placed, and any material in micro gravity will hold its momentum for a long period especially with no atmospheric drag.

3)No blast crater under the lander is the most stupid thing i've ever heard. Ok at first, your mind goes hey wow there is a powerful rocket on the bottom of the lander. What you have to realise is the lander comes in very slowly, doing most of its deceleration before touchdown, which it ends up doing at about 1 foot per second.

Transformers Teaser Trailer (2007)

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Nice how they tie in the failed Beagle Lander. I'm sure the team behind the Beagle in th UK would love to believe it was squashed by a giant transforming robot. At least they would have closure. ;-)
