You might be interested to hear that here in Melbourne restaurants are importing Italian workers, but in Italy itself pizzerias are hiring Egyptians!

It's Japan. They're making mochi, which is pounded rice that is traditionally eaten on New Year's. The mochi needs to be kneaded and moistened while it is being pounded, which is what the guy is doing when he sticks his hands into the bucket. These guys are showing off how fast they can pound the mochi.

Kittens knead the area around the mother's teats to stimulate milk flow. In other words, smart cat.

Why did the baker have smelly hands?

Because he needed a poo... (kneaded).

Believe it or not, apparently the tuxedo cat survived. Not only that, according to the vet that worked on the cat, the tuxedo survived because of the additional body heat and forced circulation from the kneading. Will try to post more on the story for you guys in a bit.

EDIT: Apparently the kneading kept the tuxedo cat alive, but after the onlookers were able to get the her to the vet she died sometime after. I made myself sad again.

Cats do different types of kneading. One is definitely sexual, and typically involves all 4 paws. The other is the front paw kneading usually combined with a nuzzling which is the kitten-milk instinct.

Regardless of what this cat was doing, though, I think we can all agreed it was just plain sad.

I just got used to that with my cat. Learning her moods and such. I didn't mind the kneading, but I guess my mom had a different view on the furniture.

Our solution was to get a rough wooden plank for her to sharpen her nails on and discourage her whenever she did it on the sofas and carpets. It didn't quite work 100% of the time, but I prefer that to taking her nails away. Seems a little cruel to me, especially since we let our cat roam free outside. She also got quite upset whenever you handled her feet, so trying to cut her nails would get you clawed fast

Ah that's a good point.
I might try the tips in the video and see if one person can do this. At the moment it's two of us to do everything including flea treatment and tablets.

Actually did you see the other Petstreet video about swallowing tablets? That cat is one calm kitty

LOL, Deano! I believe they would wear down normally from trotting around outside. I know I've found their nails to kind of shed when I find the outer layers of them all around on the floors when I clean around the house. Lately, I've been falling behind on keeping their claws trimmed. It's one of those things I don't think about until Issy is kneading away on my lap, stabbing me with sharp razor claw-prints!

LOL, Deano! I believe they would wear down normally from trotting around outside. I know I've found their nails to kind of shed when I find the outer layers of them all around on the floors when I clean around the house. It is actually pretty good crap. You just fuckin' knead it to activate it.
