I agree, but at the same time it's quite refreshing to see an officer who's acting like a thug, treated like a thug in kind. Say what you will about the context, anyone who's been following the RNC is aware of the incredible, undue abuse of citizen protesters. His friends in riot gear were likely just around the corner, and he was too excited not to jump the gun. Given the climate, I'd say the officer was pretty lucky.

The thing with South Osettia (SO) is that their seperatists had been shelling Georgian villages for a couple of days before Georgians intervened with their bombardment & troops. After that, Russian forces, which had already been amassed on the border a month or so before that, immediately entered SO - airstrikes, tanks, you name it.

Now why Russia did that is probably unclear to most people that your side of the pond. They're saying they're protecting their "compatriots", a label Kremlin propaganda seems to be throwing around without exhaustion these days, from an aggressive state (Georgia), while Russia for the past couple of years has actually been handing out citizenship and Russian passports to anyone they could in SO (which is constitutionally a part of Georgia) - seems now they did that to just be able to invade.

Have you ever physically abused inanimate objects when frustrated? You are assigning human intent when enacting revenge on the thing and it is very common in the human mind. It is similar to seeing shapes in clouds (especially if someone tells you what to look for), we sometimes jump the gun on what we are seeing and what we can socialize with. Theism is assigning human intent to our entire environment. This is an intuition, where we have received an impression without being aware of how we arrived at it.
