Marc Emery Extradited to the USA after a long battle. 2 min

BoneRemake says...

I see this as a turning point in Jodies life, I am interested in how her activism and life therefore turns out. I knew four years ago that marc would be extradited and Canada would be the usual pussy assed bent over a barrel subsidiary of the big bad USA dictatorship on the world wieners that we are and send him off.

what a sad place we live in.

Home is Where the Food Is.

JukiMuseum says...

Hi folks,
This site is great! I'm enjoying reading the comments and watching the discussion. I had to laugh when I read grinter's comment/question, because *making* animation is not exactly a carbon neutral activity. My hope with the film is that it makes people hungry and more excited and curious about their food.
Thanks Videosift!

Yes she is my friend. Hadn't seen Jody in a while, but ran into her at the local Korean market- turns out her studio is only a few blocks from my apartment. I'm glad the Sift likes her stuff- will post more soon. I know lots of supremely talented people in Vancouver- all of whom are doing what they love, none of whom are making much money at it.

If I'm here, I'm obviously not busy

That was an awesome video. Your friend made it?

Disturbing Strokes (Creepy Audio Intro)

I'm thinking you could apply this audio to another old tv sitcom - Family Affair - with disturbing results: Buffy, Jody, Cissy, "Uncle" Bill, and Mr. "French". *shiver*

How about Gilligan's Island? o_O

I'm a fan of Jody Hill's dark sensibilities. He also doesn't think of the movie as a typical comedy; and it is not. It's dark and dismal. The lead character is quite racist and quite delusional.

From http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/features/jody-hill-observe-and-report-interview.php

When Hill describes his movie as a comedy, it’s clear that he’s uneasy about the moniker - a new reality to deal with while working with a major studio. It’s much easier for a marketing team to tell the public at large that something is a comedy or a drama, something that fits neatly into those two boxes, than to make a trailer that tries to capture the true nature of a movie that should (if it succeeds) make you laugh during the dramatic parts and give you pause during the funnier sections.

When the film played at SxSW - the crowd was ideal for the screening. It was a huge audience all revved up and ready to laugh. Of course, it also helped that Seth Rogen’s hearty, boisterous laugh filled the room along with everyone else. It’s a funny movie - but even Hill doesn’t think that it will have the same hilarious effect in the general release.

“I don’t know if the movie is going to play quite as funny to people who are watching it at home. I tend to think it’s kind of a sad movie,” he says.

A dirty little secret revealed (Cinema Talk Post)

If extra-terrestrials contacted us, what would we say?

Trancecoach says...

So, SETI is a few blocks away from me and I stopped by there a couple years ago. Walked in and Ms. Tartar was sitting there in the empty lobby, waiting for people to arrive. Turns out the Jodie Foster character in the movie Contact was loosely based on her and her work. Interesting to talk with her -- even though I don't think we're receiving any extraterrestrial communication any time soon.
