"Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin in action - RIP
daphneI see, but I'm still not sure if his choice of approach was a sagacious one. Getting up close and personal is one thing, doing it in a dangerous manner and taking risks (ie. upsetting the animal) is another.
My fear is that this: Now that Irwin is dead he has attained a certian god-hood. Kids want to imitate people they admire and love. One might try to agitate a wild animal to "be like Steve Irwin" and get hurt.
I think Jeff Corwin's approach is ideal...but he's too tame for the viral video generation. People like the Jerry Springer-style because it shocks them. Irwin was the Jerry Springer of the animal world.
